Gallagher looks worn out... But as long as he scores and is not a defensive liability, I don’t care if he fails the eye test.

It doesn't matter if he bounces back this season or not. He still has 5 years remaining, and you gotta think that in the next couple of years he will no longer be able to play in the NHL and those last 2 years or so that he will be on LTIR.

Gally needs to do less mortal kombat in the blue paint if he wants to remain a contributor. Fair play to him, at full health he is still a positive on the team as we're seeing currently.....albeit an overpriced one.

Can't imagine he's at full health right now after that nasty spill into the boards. That looked so bad.

His skating seems a bit off but his shooting seems much better than last season.

He’s generated chances every game so far this season. He has been much better this season.

Gally bashing is as predictable as the sun setting in the west. Even when he scores people find away to complain. It’s always the same folks, it makes them feel better.

Embarassing.

He works so hard yet accomplishes so little.
He’s like a paper shuffler in the office, always trying to look busy for the boss but gets nothing done and nothing finished. Emphasis on no finish.

“But he sacrificed himself so much for the Habs!”

Yes he sacrificed his body and played like a pinball grinder because that’s the only way he could remain in the NHL. See also Andrew Shaw.

Beyond useless garbage-shot taker.
He learned his shot-taking from the best — Brian Gionta and Claude ‘Pucks on Net’ Julien.

12 GP 2 Goals 1 Assist 3 Points +/- -5

Patiently waiting for him to be "back".
I don't get why people ignore what long time Gallagher super-fans have been saying. He's beat up and getting more smucked up every game. This is a problem and a rather large obstacle in our path going forward. Gallagher has taken a BASHING and it isn't from social media.

If you want him to have success again, maybe bring back a center in LA. Can we pack a deal Armia + Hoffman for that center? Or Dvorak + Armia? Do you think LA gm will bite?

Looking back now, I wish we had paid Danault instead of resigning Armia/acquiring Hoffman.

Tatar-Danault-Gallagher as a 3rd line probably could still do some damage.

Gallagher has become a terrific 3rd line support player. His previous salary of 3.75 million would be good for what he brings now.
If he scores 10 goals this season I will be surprised.

Not really a surprise from a dedicated hockey professional who actually had an entire summer to recuperate & train….
Actually it is. Not one person said what you just said before the season. There was zero hope for him by from what I seen 100% of people here so no need to act like a know it all

There's still no hope. He's projecting for less than 30 points this season.

His coach….
“Well, you knew he was going to disrupt. You knew he was going to be in the paint, disrupt in front of the goalie. If there’s a scrum it’s probably Gally,” St. Louis said of what it was like to face Gallagher as a player. “Maybe he would score more goals in this league in those years, but I bet you if you really studied his game, I feel he’s becoming a better hockey player, without necessarily scoring the goals that he used to score. I’m not saying that he won’t, but he’s not just being a good F1, a good net-front guy. I know he’s good at that, but I feel Gally’s been asked to play the game, not just his game. He’s still good at disrupting and creating chaos, but I think he’s becoming a better hockey player.”

Would recommend reading the full article on The Athletic

If you read between the lines it doesn’t say what you think it’s saying

My understanding is that MSL acknowledges Gallagher is becoming a role player (aka grinder/energy guy) and he doesn’t expect production from him. This is the most polite and soft way he can figure to talk about Gallagher’s regression.
