Hello Silvio's Brazilian BBQ Fans,

This is Doug Howarth. I am the managing partner of Silvio's here in Hermosa Beach.

Unfortunately, we had a negative incident here at Silvio's after Game 7 of the Blackhawks Kings game that has offended pretty much everyone in our community. I wanted to reach out to you to personally explain what happened.

This is what i have found out so far in my investigation in the matter.

A regular of the restaurant, and Blackhawks fan, created a 20 minute highlights video to show after the game. It showed clips from the past season, and general Chicago stuff. At the end of the video, there was a 10-15 second screen shot of the LA Kings banner with the term: "Hey Kings, Go ******* Yourselves". This screen shot is the image that has gone viral. It is not a poster, banner, or picture, it is a screenshot on a tv monitor of what was playing on the video.

Unbelievable. I sincerely apologize that something this stupid, un-sportsman like, and vulgar appeared on the tv's at my restaurant. We were not aware that this message was attached to the end of the video.

I accept full responsibility for this as I am the top dog here, and I should have made sure we had a policy for allowing people to show homemade videos here and they should be viewed and approved before showing.

I personally am a huge LA Kings fan as those of you who know me can attest to. I also have two little boys and Silvio's being a family restaurant, I want to apologize to all the parents who were here at the time whose children may have seen the message.

Again, I apologize for what happened. I hope you will forgive us.

Ah, he made the mistake of letting random jerk offs show videos on their TVs? Usually not a bad call, but it only takes one. Glad he got on top of it.

I don't know, why has it taken several days to work this out?

I guess this thing went viral yesterday or the day before.

In any event, I guess that place won't be allowing videos by patrons anymore. What a jackass to do that in an L.A. restaurant. I am wondering if the restaurant has any recourse against the customer?

If what the guy says is true, I would sue the mother ****er until he was out on the streets.

What an absolutely stupid thing to do. Way to significantly diminish your clientel. Stupid move.

If I owed that joint I'd apologize but also profess that any Kings fan that comes in until the end of the Stanley Cup gets a 1/2 price appetizer or two for 1 beer or whatever...

I'm not saying I would go in there to watch the game (especially after insulting the entire community in their own backyard) but if I did what he did I'd at least try to win back some of the business he lost and is losing.

Solid apology and own up. Too bad the damage is likely done.

Those comments that people left have me rofl though.

One of the quotes from Yelp says that when he complained about the screenshot (apparently it was locked on the TV), staff told him "too bad."

Assuming this is true (who knows?), then I am not so sure about the belated apology. Seems like that screen shot on the TV was not taken down immediately and this is not a one minute photo or even one day...sounds like it may have stayed up there.

How stupid are the owner(s) of Silvio's to put up a sign like that, and in all places, in hermosa beach. I'm all for free speech, but Silvio's deserve every bit of what they're getting.

Best part of this whole incident is that the highlight video was 20 minutes long.

20 minutes!?! C'mon now Chicago fan: you aren't that good.

"Oohhh...remember this line change?" Hahahaha.

What King fan would allow a 20 minute Chicago video after we finally beat them? I wish he would just own up to being a Hawks fan, I would respect that so more. Instead we get backpedaling "KGK" stuff.

OMG, the funniest review I saw…

"I'd rather eat my dogs' ****, then **** out my ****, and then eat that **** that's made up of my dogs' **** that I ate first, then eat here again."

I feel bad for the owner, and the apology certainly was genuine. The idea of patrons doing their own videos is cool, but you HAVE to screen those things, and his employees should have said something given it was apparently on a loop.

Just dumb decision-making all around, and knowing how hard it is to have a successful restaurant (the reviews were quite favorable before this incident)... it's just sad.

This incident is now "national news" (well, assuming you consider TMZ "national news"):

Personally, I'm conflicted. If it really was a "mistake" (although, auditing is a big part of what I do for a living, and there are a couple of elements about the Facebook apology that are a bit fishy to me, but whatever), the owners/staff shouldn't have to suffer ramifications so severe that they go out of business.

On the other hand, if I had been dining in there with my wife/11-month old, and that screen pops up and stays there for a long enough time for multiple people to complain about it/snap it...I dunno' if I'd trust a place with a staff that dense anyway...
