I hope those second rounders aren't high :sarcasm:

I'm sure they gave us our picks back, likely.

Yea waiting on that. Any word on whose picks they are? Either way, a second is a second these days. Good players go in those rounds.

The trade is official, if anyone was worried about it not going through, TSN is reporting it as a done deal, trade call made.

Little nervous about the return. I assume with McNabb on board that one of the defenseman is going to Columbus.

Happy to get Gaborik, wish it had been in 2009 instead of the Pro's Pro. But he can still play with Kopitar IMO

Honestly, I'm more excited about the two 2nd round picks.

The Kings should be able to draft two better prospects with those picks than the two guys they traded.

Picking up McNabb tells me the Kings still have some doubts about Forbort, and I think that's valid, guy hasn't really done much to stand out since he was drafted.

I think both the guys the Kings traded were a wee bit overrated on this board and they picked up two picks and a future bottom pairing defender. I don't think it's a homerun, but the Kings adding a couple of nice picks and selling high on Fasching.

I like it because, McNabb is almost ready. Love Hudson, but he 4 to 5 years away. That doesn't help the Kings in a win now mode.

Nic D is also never going to play on a NHL blueline.

I don't think those pick will be high.

Well, it kind of depends on where you think Buffalo is at in the re-build...tend to think they'll be pretty reasonable picks.

It's almost irrelevant though. After the top 10, or even the top 5, pick placement becomes the single most overrated barometer of whether or not they're good or bad picks. It's all about homework after that. Who has the picks and knows what to do with them is a better gauge than positioning. Frankly I trust Dean to make smart decisions that could turn out well, regardless of where the pick is. Of course, getting two 2nds is better than getting two 5ths, simply because someone might be as smart or smarter than you and done their homework on the same player. Ask all the teams that either skipped or didn't get a chance to nab voynov in '08

if Brayden is NHL ready, I'll take that and more assets to play with sold!!

those that are complaining about losing potential in Fasching and Nick D, may have a point but I want to see another Cup while I'm still around then prospects who may or not meet their potential 5 years from now, when I may not even be on this Earth.

to borrow from one of our Mods, I'd rather the "Kings Live in The Now", then worry about what could or could not happen to future prospects.

So basically, DL believes he can get better players with those two 2nd rounders than Fasching and Deslauriers? Well, I hope so!!! Those guys were having break-out seasons......

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not Des and Fasching as well??? WTF???

Damn it! I understand McNabb is or can be a great dman pairing for DD, but why two of our most promising power forwards? I'd rather have given up a Pearson, before Fasching or Des (assuming BUFF wanted Pearson)

I'm sure when my emotions have calmed down a bit, I will realize the benefit of this deal, but for right now, I have very mixed emotions.

**** Des!!!??? AND Fasching!!!???

If McNabb pans out and can stick in the NHL, the Kings win this deal.

But I have a feeling that a few years down the road, one of you Kings fans is going to look back at this trade and wonder why in the heck the Kings were willing to part with Hudson Fasching.

Just saying....

Forbort - Doughty
Gravel - Voynov
McNabb - Muzzin

It's gonna be okay, guys.

Yeah, I have the same feeling.

An awful trade, Buffalo wins it easily. Fasching was our best forward prospect, better than Zykov and ten times better than Vey. How many left shooting, big d-man prospects we need? Forbort, Gravel, Roach and now McNabb. Pure stupidity trade Fasching away.

How in the world does Buffalo win easily?

You are referring to a pair of guys who have never played an NHL game, one who has never played a pro shift in his life, and Deslauriers was such a failure on D that he had to move to the forward position.

Could Buffalo win? For sure, Fasching could be a 30 goal power forward and Deslauriers could be a stud too. The physical tools are there. The odds though that both pans out huge? Slim. We've seen good numbers for college kids before not pan out as anything. I like Fasching, I think he's a solid prospect, but we turned a 4th round pick nine months ago and a guy who was lost at the same time and turned them into a pair of 2nds and young blueliner who at least appears capable of making the NHl as a #6 offensive D-man with huge size.

Maybe we won, maybe we lost, but Buffalo does not win this trade easily at this point in time.

I wouldn't say it's slim at all. I don't know much about Fasching as I do about Des, but if Des is leading the club in goals, in his first year of transition, that tells me, this kid could be really good. And the fact that the board seem to have a bigger hard on for Fasching than they do for Des, tells me, the chances are more likely, than they are slim, that they will be good nhl players, but I guess we'll find out in a few years. :)

It's a interesting trade. If anything I think it says more about the internal evaluation of Pearson/Tyler/King/Brown then what it means for Deslaurier. That's a guy making a big move to forward, seeming having success, and maybe the team just didn't think he was going to beat out those four (five with Clifford) guys in next two years. Part of drafting well is having to move guys. It's not like you can make a 5th line...

Fasching is much more surprising. Fits a lot of the mold. Tough, extremely, young, had a bad draft year but real success afterward. I was on the hype train for him and the issues with depth are less relevant as he is at least 4 years away. I think the Kings really wanted those 2nd rounders. Far more then what we would have expected.

Not sure what to think about McNabb. Can't figure out if he matters or is just a side note. Don't know enough about him to make a statement.
