I do not understand if they give up ND, word was he would be next callup and working as a left wing, but in Dean we trust

Not quite. Mediocre is more accurate.

Agreed. McNabb is physically ready for the NHL. Mentally, there are some question marks. He has a monster shot and can help offensively when in the other team's zone, but is too slow to rush the puck. Can unload on people, but will sometimes put himself out of position to make a big hit. He's good as a 5/6 guy, but would be subpar in a team's top 4, based on how he's played lately

Those two second rounds picks are fantastic. The Kings are probably the best second round drafting team in the league. In Dean We Trust!

Anyone know what the 2nd rounders are? Is it the Regehr-rounders (as in mid to late 2nd rounders), is it Buffalo-rounders (basically late 1st-rounders) or a combination?

Woooow Not Hudson Fasching! Kings gonna regret this trade in a few years. Wow

McNabb, 23, carries a $715,000 cap hit and will be a restricted free agent after this season. A third round pick of the Sabres in 2009, the 6-foot-4, 208 pound left shooting defenseman is a three-time AHL All-Star with a heavy shot and a good dose of grit and physicality. He has 29 points (7-22-29) and a plus-9 rating in 38 games with AHL-Rochester, where he has spent the majority of his season.

From the Rochester Americans’ website:

In 28 games played with Rochester, McNabb has totaled 22 points highlighted by a four-assist night on Nov. 1 against the Syracuse Crunch. During a season that has included an outdoor game, a trip to Switzerland to compete in the Spengler Cup and numerous call-ups to Buffalo, McNabb admits it’s been a wild season so far.

“It’s kind of been all over,†McNabb said. “At one point I felt like I was traveling around the world there for a bit, from going to the Spengler Cup to getting called up while we were in Switzerland. It’s been good, some ups and downs, and I’m just trying to work on my game and develop into an NHL player and hopefully be in Buffalo long-term someday.â€

Part of the appeal in another All-Star appearance for McNabb will be a chance to defend his title in the hardest shot competition. McNabb hammered a 101.8 MPH slap-shot to take the crown in last year’s AHL All-Star Skills competition.

“I might have to have a few cheeseburgers to put a little more weight behind it,†McNabb said.

In 37 career games with Buffalo, McNabb has one goal, eight points and an even rating. He was impressive in junior hockey, using his physicality and a booming shot in leading Kootenay to a WHL Championship and Memorial Cup berth in 2011.

I dunno. It's tough for me to get excited for a guy who couldn't crack the top 6 of the worst team in the league :dunno:

I'll be more than thrilled to be wrong, but it sounds more like Buffalo wanted Fasching than we really wanted McNabb. Hence the picks, which are obviously important.

From what I have read, we have another slow, brain dead defenseman. Oh well. We'll see I guess.

Huge in size and hardest shot in the ahl...

Zdeno Charo lite?

No.

McNabb is extremely on and off. I'm much much more happy about the picks than I am about getting McNabb, I don't think he will be anything more than a 7th defenseman. Hopefully we get someone in the 2nd, or else we are gonna regret this trade. I think everyone knows Fasching is gonna be a hell of a player.

The way i see it, McNabb is going to be a NHL player within the year. Fasching, a college freshman, has 3-5 years to be a NHL player. This doesn't help the kings win now. McNabb helps the kings win now (Or within the next year). Also getting the two second rounders back is huge. I am very impressed with the kings scouting.

Also seems the two second rounders will help get another top six winger the kings need.

Why??? I mean we can fetch for a stop gap D for a low pick or sign a UFA next year. Don't understand this move at all. The only thing that would make sense is that we use those 2nds to fill a need up front, if not the trade looks to be : RR + MacNabb for Fashing and Nic.

An awful trade, Buffalo wins it easily. Fasching was our best forward prospect, better than Zykov and ten times better than Vey. How many left shooting, big d-man prospects we need? Forbort, Gravel, Roach and now McNabb. Pure stupidity trade Fasching away.

McNabb is NHL ready, those other players mentioned aren't. Greene is likely gone. We want another Cup.

That's a fantastic return honestly.

I am as high on Fasching as the next guy. But two high 2nd rounders and a future NHL D-man, for Deslauriers (3rd rounder) and a 4th round selection Freshman who is having a good year.

That's a good return. Works for both teams. Development on one side. A little further along development for the other plus some good draft positions.

I bet Blake scouted him, as well as other King scouts and must be really high on him.

last season in Kootenay 72 pts and 27 playoff points. 99 points in 84 games? 101 mph slapshot? Sounds like when the Kings work with him,
he will be a stud.

McNabb, Gravel and Forbort. That's a great stable of big young D
that will replace Mitchell, Green and Regher.

The 2 #2 picks are incredible! Consider Hemsky only required a 3rd and a 5th...the Kings can use 1 or 2 of these on Gaborik or ?

I hope those second rounders aren't high :sarcasm:

I'm sure they gave us our picks back, likely.

Honestly, I'm more excited about the two 2nd round picks.

The Kings should be able to draft two better prospects with those picks than the two guys they traded.

Picking up McNabb tells me the Kings still have some doubts about Forbort, and I think that's valid, guy hasn't really done much to stand out since he was drafted.

I think both the guys the Kings traded were a wee bit overrated on this board and they picked up two picks and a future bottom pairing defender. I don't think it's a homerun, but the Kings adding a couple of nice picks and selling high on Fasching.
