Brantford Bulldogs 2023-24 Off-Season Thread (Part One)

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Dogs did their deed today. Way the game was going they won unwinnable game. Drobac stood tall, Xhekaj game winner, becomes somewhat of theme here. Nevertheless very lucky to win today.
If they loose tomorrow, they built themselves nice cushion so that it won't hurt as much. Hope our injured guy start coming back, it's very evident they need them badly.

Third period was pretty rough but glad they got out of it with a W.

I feel like Chen has improved as the season has gone on, really nice save by him and the new guy late in the third to keep it tied

We’ve played 6 games since both Hamara and Okitundu have been out (counting the Pete’s game when Oki went out). In all honesty, who thought we’d go 6/6? I know we’ve had a bit of an easier schedule since, regardless, I’m still impressed. Tonight should be interesting.

Not me, that's for sure.

This team continues to surprise me. Last night was a big win because I don't see it happening tonight.

They're playing with house money though.

After 1, they have no right being up by 2. This game could end 9-2, but sure hope they can hang on.
 
Real strong weekend for Drobac. Can't win many games getting outshot like that and Bulldogs aren't great at 3v3.

Rematch on friday will be interesting as the dogs always seem to bring their A game at home.
 
No injured bodies back and Testa is out. At least with last change 10 and 27 can be protected a bit

Tough loss. Bulldogs played well, just awful at 3v3. Without questionable officiating it doesn't get there. At full strength I don't think many teams (if any) can take the Bulldogs in 7.

That Saginaw team has so much talent. Wish we were healthy the last 2 games.

They beat us in 7 games, but don't think they can beat London, Kitchener, or the Soo.
 
Gutsy win today, no quit and wouldn't allow Kingston to get back into the game. They always had an answer.
Fronts coach was heckled last time he came here and wanted fans kicked out of the rink :laugh:

The Bulldogs and the Frontenacs have always had a sort of history regarding heckling at some point or another. I remember during Game 1 and 2 of the Eastern finals in 2018, there were these two drunk guys in front of me heckling Jeremy Helvig and Eemeli Rasanen throughout the two games.

that's also how I came up with my display name here matter of fact lol

Hey all, I had a nice time at the game Friday there. I appreciate the fans booing me on the jumbotron while I was wearing my Spirit jersey (I was warned prior, so it was all good).

Unfortunately, while I was in the arena, theives broke into my car and took most things that we hadn't put into our hotel. Everything is replaceable, except this Samsung Lions jacket. It is unique in that it has "Champion" sewn onto the back. It won't stand out amoung Maple Leafs or Marlies apparel.

I am not looking to get it back, but it will be lead on who the theives could be. So, if you spot it, you could contact the Brantford police and reference BR24008514 and let them know.

Well that's unfortunate and not a good look on Brantford. Wondering if it was targeted crime (American plates) or random. Either way, bad look on city. And will definitely keep look out for that jacket, it should be easily recognizable.

Out of curiosity, where were you parked?
I’m sorry this happened to you guys and such an unfortunate situation, especially when you’re presumptively on the road for a fun weekend away.

I was hesitant to post anything about it. I didn't want to tarnish the city or the people over one incident. But, if there has been a pattern of break-ins during night games around the arena while people are inside, this one-of-a-kind jacket could break the case if identified.

It was behind the LCBO across the street under a light. I was just following others since the other lots were full and we were running close to puck-drop. Hindsight, not the best decision.

No Bujold today. Hopefully he isn't out for too long.

Testa back in the lineup. I heard that he had been a healthy scratch the last few. It would be nice if he could get going again.
 
Anyone else surprised at today's 5-1 loss after getting points in 9 straight games? Thought this one would be more competitive.

I’m not surprised at all due to the injuries within the roster. Mississauga is a very good team, and injuries to the defence were bound to catch up to the Bulldogs.

Already missing Lardis, Hamara, and Okitundu. Bujold and Tsherna were out today as well, and we played 1 player short. Add a Xhekaj game misconduct (Bulldogs were already down 2-0) and Sobolev not returning for the 3rd period.

Hopefully we get a couple bodies back, and Xhekaj isn’t suspended for the game versus Oshawa on Friday.

Crap, I didn't realize Sobolev missed the 3rd. If they lose him they're done.
