I’m not a Carlo fan boy at all.
But, he has averaged +17 per 82 games in his career despite getting absolutely buried in the D zone outside of the Krug years.
Even this year, when Lindholm was in the lineup the Bruins had 66% of the goal share with that pairing on the ice and were playing very well across all the fancy and not fancy metrics despite the team being bad.
But yeah since Lindholm has been out Carlo has been a mess with Zadorov, Lorhei, Wotherspoon, etc.
I think the most interesting datapoint is the giveaways. Before Lindholm was injured, Carlo was averaging 3.5 giveaways per 60. Since, it has been 4.7. Carlo’s career average is 1.35. What the f*** is that? Is he trying to make more plays because the team sucks offensively? Is he being forced to take more of a lead in trying to move the puck because of his partners? Is the team just too slow and unskilled to cover the warts of such a one way player?
With Carlo being under 30, you would think it’s more mental or role than physical.
All that being said, I do think you need to swap Carlo or Peeke for someone with more two way value on this Bruins roster and Carlo would be the more valuable chip.
