I am hearing that the Panthers are a little worried of what chaos these two brothers may bring in. Many players are quietly concerned about the favoritism and non accountability this may show to the other guys. This may implode that team at some point. You heard it here first.
I mean it wouldn't take much for that team to collapse, IMO. It's an aging group and we saw what they look like without Barkov this year.

It would be too hilarious if Matt and Brady acted like such asshats (by no means a stretch) that Barkov asked for a trade. One can dream.

Saw a few florida fans recently talk about how Barkov can keep them both in check.

They forgot about Walt.

Good f***ing luck!

Why would Washington do this?

McMichael needs a new contract that they might not want to give him. He's coming off a bad year and they're re-tooling around a core of Hutson, Leonard, Protas x2, etc.

They may like one of the prospects who would be available at 9.

They may not do it, but McMichael is the type of guy who may be available.

I don't think he would speak as frankly about not drafting at 9 unless there was something incredibly close to the finish line.

Could be he has multiple teams on the line about that pick. That statement could be a way of applying pressure to one or all of them. The implication is that, like you said, he's close to a deal. It MIGHT make one of them step up and give Staios what he wants.

Personally I doubt it gets traded until the draft. Maybe even not until the 8th pick has been made.

Just saw Staois's interview. He seems determined to move forward and do something significant.

That's at least encouraging, but hope he can get the players we need...

Time for Staios to shine...

I hope so as well, but I think as Sens fans we’re used to getting disappointed with the players that we’ve gotten after trading away stars.

If the A level players were targeting don’t want to play here I’d rather go for a quick rebuild then bring in some B level players.

I wish we were a little closer to the top 6 in the draft. We are just outside the range for some stud draft prospects.

As much as Robertson acquisition is quite intriguing, let's find out that he would want to or not stay in Ottawa long term. If not, I am not at all interested in obtaining his services for a year or 2 and go through the bullshit of having to flip him at the end, etc.

Kind of a dumb question when his best player right now is American and his best defensive forward is too. Don't know what else he was supposed to say to that.
I get why the question was asked because it’s a bit of a hot topic right now, but it was obvious what Staois was going to say.

He followed it up with something along the lines of "we still have Americans on the roster who are committed to playing here", which to me is more that they are on long-term contracts with term left, not that they are committed to the Sens specifically. He's not going to outright say we will avoid Americans, but it's not like they can just ignore that factor moving forward.

He’s an RFA. There is zero chance we acquire him without a contract.
