wtf happened today. I’m so tired. It’s been weeks worth of bull shit work at my job and nuts chores at home. I get this notification from my friends after I go to the dump to remove yard waste.

f*** Brady. f*** today. f*** all of this. What a pile of crap.

Bring Erik home. Draft like we did when we got Jimmy and Jake. Pry a good forward from someone.

We will be better for this but my god - what the hell came from left field today.

Agree on the bolded, but I don't think we need two high end top wingers. It's ideal if we can one high impact winger, but some gambles on players that aren't the shiny toys in FA can pay off. In the context of replacing his offense, we have to remember, even if our offense takes a slight step back because Tkachuk isn't here, other players having some of Tkachuks ice time will mean more production. Zetterlund and Foegele are both safe bets for 40ish points each. If our goaltending also bounces back, we can steal a few games through there. Any draft pick we select at 9th overall having an impact or Yakemchuk getting more games is a bonus.

It's not going to be a division title this season, but we're not doomed.
nah if the solution is to give Foegele and Zetterlund more ice to cover up the missing offense that just won't work. They aren't high quality enough to take this team far.

Right now our best winger is Batherson. that's just not good enough to win. Before the Brady trade I said this team needs a legit top 6 winger be it someone like Tuch or Laf type. Now I think they need two of those players. Won't be easy

Tkachuk didnt really f*** over the team. Its actually really good he let Staois know he isnt signing here this early. Its up the Staois to figure out the best return and make this team a contender.

We don't need a mitch marner situation here

lol I mean negotiating for full trade protection and then saying I want out here’s 4 teams it’s them or get f***ed is f***ing over the team in my book but sure.

Obviously no love lost between Toronto and Ottawa, but I think it's better for you guys to have hit the eject button on Brady Tkachuk.

No team needs the will he stay, will he go BS, the cliquey podcast drama, team within a team Team USA nonsense and all the distractions that come with whatever good he does on the ice. Guy is a sideshow. I hope the Tkachuk Bros flop in Florida, and I think Ottawa will be able to draw a tighter circle around the players who want to be there.

Wow the Sens trade thier best player and only get draft choices in return...9th overall,25th and maybe future first rounder(s)...move the Sens to Quebec city they're done

This is getting to be something ugly for canadian teams,I'm of the mind that brady wasn't resigning in Ottawa and a deal had to be made so he got what he can,and I'm sure if Ottawa management might want to flip the picks for help now I would think Ottawa suffers from the same stigma minus the harsh winter as winnipeg, which means most players of value have a nmc of some sort and Ottawa might be on that list,I don't want canadian small markets to become feeder teams for the big US clubs but it's looking more and more like that's becoming the truth, canadian owners have to push for changes to the amount of nmc crap out there.im sure staois wanted more but with a nmc their hands were tied.
We were already on those lists...

The path for a team like Ottawa is through the draft. Always has been. Out of all the failures of the last decade, not making this the core ethos of this team is IMO the biggest one.

Givin trade protection out like candy has and will continue to contribute to the inequalities of this league, to the detriment of more than just the Senators. While I can appreciate swinging the needle towards player autonomy in general, I believe the health of the league is more important. When it comes to trade protections and teams, you're either a have, a have not, or a never have.

Nah this ain't it. He could have strung us along like Marner then come next season be like nah im good.

I think him being upfront and telling the team he won't sign is the best situation for Ottawa to be in if he was going to leave regardless

Foegele has scored at a 31 point pace his whole career, and with regular top 6 time, 40+ points, last season in LA was an anomaly, as was his high production in Ottawa. 40 points is a safe bet from him. Zetterlund scored 33 while bouncing around the line up. Consistent line mates and 40 is a safe bet for him.

Like i said, its not the same as Tkachuk's 65-70, but it'll cover more than half of that. We're good enough to weather that. Even if we acquire some mid wingers like Roslovic, DeBrusk, those guys are safe bets for 20g, 40 points, and it helps mitigate the loss of Tkachuks' offense

Who are the captain that wanted out after 8 years with their team in history?
Someone knows some names apart from Larkin?

On the bright side, left wingers are the easiest position to replace. And it won't be one guy. Chances are we replace those 70 points by committee.

It also means we can sign Spence and Bath, even if the deals might be more than I'd like. Move Zetterlund and bring in two left wingers (maybe move Halliday up the lineup?), balance out the roster more. Focus on three good lines that have some scoring ability.
replacing 70 points by committe doesnt work. Its like the other poster saying we can get Foegele and Zetterlund 40 points each. Ya except Brady does that in 18 mins of ice time. How are you spliting that up with Foegele and Zetterlund so they can still get 40 points each in that amount of ice.

You are going to put them both on the PP ? You need skill to compete. There is no option to replace it by committee with a team that already lacks high end talent upfront

You'd think he would have learned something from Staal through osmosis via fist, but Staal has only been the captain in Carolina for 7 years, so he just missed the cutoff.

You arent taking into account ice time

Brady average 18 mins of ice and can put up 30 goals and 70+ points.

How are you splitting that same icetime with Foegele and Zetterlund alongside PP time to produce that level of offense?

Worst f***ing captain ever jesus, even his own locker room wanted him out. Explains the no show in the playoffs.

I doubt they were trying to force him out, but they probably told management that if he doesn't want to be here then to just get the best deal now instead of wating, so it's not a distraction again next year.

I genuinely feel bad for all the Sens fans who are fathers today. Like I can’t imagine just trying to be grateful for the day that is today for this to come out and hit you like a logging truck.

Absolutely gutting.

I pray you all had a great day and enjoyed your time with your family’s.

And having a rising cap that the have nots and never haves can't match will just make it worse.
