Another aspect of this situation is that Larkin wanted out and asked for a trade, including Florida as a possible destination.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Staios wanted to get ahead of it and secure the return fearing Florida might make a push for another player like Larkin, leaving very little valuable assets available in the eventuality where Tkachuk only accepts a trade to Florida.

Move Pinto up to C2. Move Cozens to wing. Spend cap dollars for a top 6 F. DONE!
See if Buffalo would trade McLeod. 3rd line center, great on the PK, speedy, only $5M AAV. Could also enquire about Byram, LD who can play on the right, one more year on his current $6.5M deal although he wants to be 1D, maybe he'd settle for being on the 1st pairing with Sandy?

Oh you have a direct line to Brady to k ow why he wanted out, is that it?

This team rolled out the red carpet for him. Time and time again. Are you seriously going to tell me that he folded because of some questions from the media?

Harassment? Get the f*** out.
And do you know why he wanted out?

Everything changed in his demeanor after the olympics; you could see the frustration on his face everytime Canadian media blasted him about it. How many times did he have to answer the same ******* question about wanting to stay in Ottawa?

It doesn't end with the media either, so called fans ripped him on social media too endlessly.

NOBODY is going to want to play in Ottawa (or canada) if they have to deal with that shit, and that's the biggest problem. It's hard enough retaining players in this market.

Ottawa is by far the softest market in Canada when it comes to media lol. There’s really nothing to look into here.

Some franchises are just more attractive to play for. It doesn’t hurt that they consistently try to improve every offseason.
It wasn't the Ottawa media, it was the bigger Canadian media that stepped in. There was also interference from media in the US to try and push him out.

How many times did he swear up and down he wanted to stay in Ottawa, hmmm?

Take a deep breath. Repeat after me: it's just a game.

Man, I don't think Toronto would move Knies for 9th OV, but a return of:

Knies (5 more years @ 7.75M)
25th
2029 1st
2027 2nd

For two years of Brady would be an absolute coup

Calm down mate.

Tkachuk would’ve left anyway once his contract was up regardless of the media and the fans.

He went to Florida to play with his brother. The media and the fans might be an irritant but in the end he wasn’t staying in Ottawa regardless. Just like his brother in Calgary even though he was a fan favourite there and didn’t have to deal with those questions and so-called hate. He still left.

People here generally loved Brady. Chanting his name after losing in the playoffs. Brady knows he was loved here. This is about more than hockey.

It was inevitable.

I don't like Americans, but Sanderson, despite a few bumps, seems absolutely perfect to captain this team. This is his and stu's team now 100%.

It's kind of exciting. Brady was depreciating imo. Others have usurped him as the best players.
Nothing wrong with Americans!

Canadians have asked out as well - this isn’t an American problem.

It’s a franchise problem clearly.

You don't know any more than any of us, so check that condescending shit at the door.

He very well could have wanted to stay in Ottawa until he got annoyed. He showed a lot of emotion about wanting to win with the team in the past.

Oh Brady was never the best player

He’s badly overrated IMO

He’ll look good with Florida cause man just look at their top 9 its ridiculous, thats a Kevin Durant bitch move.

But as far as skills, Brady is limited, he’s not a great skater, his 1 on 1 skills are pretty ass, he’s big and very good around the net. He cant carry a line

It would be great. Don’t think we’re getting him though.

25th + for McTavish would be interesting. Unless someone like Knies can be had for the 9th I’d rather use it to try and draft a first line winger. Team has to hit a homerun if they don’t move it.

I could stomach the 9th overall for Knies until I realize it's give the Leafs a piece to rebuild their blueline out. Hell no to that.

If they'll do the 25th, who we select at 32, and a roster player like Zetterlund sure but Chayka isn't that stupid.

I don't think any forward available at 9th will be as good as Knies but can't risk setting up TML for the future.
