Im expecting something like that, and we wont be a better teamDebrusk and mctavish to start.
Ive been a fan of this team since 2003 man, what a roller coaster of mediocrity

Lol, I was guessing and I was actually incorrect in my guess. The Sens didnt get one of the picks in the 40s, they got a 2nd in 2030. Weak effort, mate. Sorry I was 4 minutes behind twitter."Guessing" eh. ... tweets came out four minutes before your post outlining exactly this. Weak effort, mate.
I hope you're right.. but none of us know Sanderson personally. There is a huge difference in the character level of Sanderson vs Brady.
Sanderson will treat the C as a privilege and live up to it. Brady thought it was his by right.
Sanderson is gonna use the C to push himself to be even better.
It’s a 2nd in 2027, got corrected in the official release. Which is much better.Lol, I was guessing and I was actually incorrect in my guess. The Sens didnt get one of the picks in the 40s, they got a 2nd in 2030. Weak effort, mate. Sorry I was 4 minutes behind twitter.
If they pick them, but they likely will trade most of themThose picks will be players about the time Chabot will no longer be a top 4 guy. This team is destined to be middle of the road forever.
Why?
If think we'd trade 25 and keep 9

They’ll trade for McTavish, and pay Marchment 7M per year we’ll still miss the playoffs and be stuck will couple bad contracts long-term - Stutzle and Sanderson will have had enough ( if not already) they’ll be next with wanting out usually how it works with our franchise.I think trading for Mathew Tkachuk might be easier than getting Robertson to sign here.
Knies would be an awesome pick up. I think Toronto would refuse to move him to us though.I think we trade both.
9th to Toronto for Knies. Or maybe another forward.
25th + for another forward.
We are in win now mode. We can’t wait 2 years for a maybe.
Question: Would people on this board generally prefer the Hughes return over what we got?Rantanen got two (expected late) 1sts, two 3rds, and Stankoven. That was well before Stankoven's stock rose in the playoffs. Rantanen basically had a NMC by proxy because teams were only go to pay for him with an extension.
Hughes got Buium, Rossi, and Ohgren. Hughes had less trade protection.
Based on Puckpedia's chart, we basically got a 2nd overall pick in value. I think when you look at those packages and rank all three players, we did reasonably well.
Bruh stop it. Let's not put Sanderson on a pedestal. Yes he's infinitely better than Brady because he literally never takes a shift off but he also went to the White House. I'm not counting on any USA player defending Canada and showing any political literacy. There is a huge difference in the character level of Sanderson vs Brady.

Keep crying you homerHow is it a weak return for a player you criticized incessantly. Try to be consistent at least

What do you think about this, boss man?Lol, ok.
People didn't really make a big deal about it at the time, but when the Senators got Tkachuk signed for 7 years back in 2021 Elliotte Friedman reported that he and his family actually asked the Senators to not draft him in 2018. But they did it anyway.I think he meant total bomb as in total bombshell. Not in that it was a great return.
I think it was a fair return considering the NMC and leverage Brady had. I think bringing him back would have been a huge distraction that could have torpedoed the season. I don't think it's surprising that it's now coming out that his teammates didn't want him back. The "great leader" narrative was bogus the last two seasons. When the coaching staff has to plead with the captain to change the way he plays so the team can try and win... that's not great leadership. He had checked out. Everyone could see it.
But I agree that Staios has A LOT of work to do in the next 3 weeks.
I'm glad it's over. The first 6 years were fun. But we were never winning with him. He was never staying here. It had to happen. Glad Staios just ripped the bandaid off.
If they were willing to trade him to Montreal, I don’t see why not.Knies would be an awesome pick up. I think Toronto would refuse to move him to us though.
I wonder if Batherson wants to sign long-term now? And if so he’s in a very good position of strength where Ottawa will likely be desperate!
Whatever - he can get gone too as far as I'm concerned.I hope you're right.. but none of us know Sanderson personally.
His comments and demeanor after the booing of the US anthem and the Olympics fiasco was not promising.
I'm not counting on any USA player defending Canada and showing any political literacy.
I'm not expecting us to actually get anyone that could command 9oa, those guys all have NTC or wouldn't have the term to be willing to take that riskFor the type of player we'll likely be after, I don't think 25 will do it.
