Ok, but what happens when Illitch finally realizes that they Yzerplan is crap? Stevie got impatient with losing and tried to fast track things with July 1st cast off's. So instead of being horrible, they were just bad and didn't get any of the real high end picks they should have. Coulda had Cooley, got Kasper instead. Coulda had Michkov, got Danielson instead. Edvinsson is nice, but Power coulda been the perfect Yin to Mo's Yang. Combine that with the misses, Cossa is no Wallstedt and then there's Zadina of course, yikes. Seider & Raymond are not enough to build a winner with
You’re right, Cossa is no wallstedt, he’s significantly better

I get that it would take something special but after the Skinner buyout, can we really afford to trade Peterka? Especially if you include Kulich as well. Even after adding Tkachuk our top 6 would suck if you trade Peterka.

I'd rather throw in Byram or Cozens.

The Kings are trying to build around Byfield, Clarke, Turcotte. Turcotte is finally healthy amd is starting to look like the 5th OA pick they used on him.

Turcotte has been the Kings best player this season by a decent margin. Turcotte is definitely not on the Tkachuk level but LA would be trying to add Tkachuk to their young core. Not remove the core for a piece. That's why I said they don't have what Ottawa wants/needs
Tuecotte 23 years old in his D+ 6 with 1G and 4pts in 9 games is looking like a 5th overall pick?

LA future is in horrible hands if that’s who they’re building around

Watch a game instead of stat casting because you'll see he's better than the stats show. He's also the leader in +/- for LA. All while playing his first real season of hockey while being healthy off 3 major concussions.

LA future has been in horrible hands because of the GM (Blake) and President of Hockey operations (Luc) and not because of the players. Zero goaltending, weak defense, no high end scoring talent and awful trades (Faber+1st for Fiala, Vilardi+ for PLD).

A 23 yo with 4pts in 9 games while being pretty horrible and injury prone every year prior has very little trade value.

Nevermind being a cornerstone piece not worth trading for Tkachuck

Utterly wild people are still using +/- as a relevant stat in 2024

In 2011 Justin Abdelkader had a better +/- than Zetterberg, who was actually a -1

Lidstrom won the Norris at -2

It means nothing.

What is not going through your head? For a prospect that has been injury prone not being able to practice or play for years. Having 4 points in 9 games while playing 4th line mostly is decent stats for his first true NHL season.

I'm not saying he is worth more than trading for Tkachuck. I'm saying it's stupid to trade for Tkachuck by opening more holes in their next core when they could move others.

Ottawa would probably want something like Clarke, Turcotte, Fiala, pick for Tkachuck. It's a bad move for LA (and their future) and most likely a bad move for Ottawa (for their present and future).

The Kings should be looking to move Fiala, Danault, Moore, Gavrikov, and Kempe (only for a massive offer). Not the kids!

Ottawa has to be motivated to trade. Buffalo will need to trade value.
