Maybe you misread what he said but it would essentially be a sign and trade of rantanen for tkachuk

You’d get 8 years of rantanen, so his value would be through the roof imo.

I think Ottawa would be adding to this if it were the case.

Rants never agrees, it’s a moot point.

McAvoy 1 for 1 for Brady is probably the best case scenario for both teams if they want to trade mentioned players.

McAvoy never agrees

Guy's a pt/game player, and I suspect he'd reach 100pts for a couple of seasons on a good team,

Ottawa should demand a lot

There’s not a single good team that would have him in a position to get enough touches for 100 points unless they have a lot of injuries up front and he’s playing the full powerplay every time.

Would Ottawa be looking for a package or a player-for-player trade?

If the former the Flyers have a bunch of pieces that may be of interest in some combination

3 2025 1sts
3 2025 2nds
Farabee
Frost
Foerster
Brink
Drysdale

I’d like to hold onto guys like Bonk, Luchanko, and York but I wouldn’t say they’re off the table

maybe Tkachuk for Pettersson deal... change of scenery might be what Petey needs to get back to a 100 pt level.
Vancouver gets Tkachuk who probably will never score 100 pts but he's tough AF.
EP is on fire right now. He will be at or near 100 points this year after a rough start.

As much as I'd love to see Miller and BT on a line together, we don't have the center depth to trade Pettersson.

If Ottawa were shopping him, I think they would get offers from nearly every team. BT is a unicorn that would fit into any lineup. I would assume it would end up being good young roster play+ top Prospect+ Pick (dependent on prospect) + functional cap dump.

He’s already back

I think you vastly overstate the impact changing teams would have on production.

Unless you're going to a McDavid, or coming from some dogshit linemates like playing in SJS or Chi, the linemates aren't gonna be much better than what he's had.

Likely with 1 star, 1 complimentary piece, just like he's had in ottawa.

He's also likely to get less PP time, considering he's 12th in the league in PP toi over the last 3 years.

You’d have to think every team in the league would be interested.

Sens wouldn’t want this to turn into something like the trade for his brother (Huberdeau) so, pony up big time

Tkachuk would probably flourish in a healthy organization where he doesn't have to be "the guy" similar to his brother (not that Matthew was struggling in Calgary).

1st + top prospect + good young roster player ought to be the price as it is with most players of Brady's caliber when they are traded in their prime.

As a Canucks fan I would offer Lekkerimaki + 1st as a base but not sure if the Sens would be interested in that. We aren't in a position to offer too much more than that given we need a D-man more than another winger.

lol wtf? Really?
He’s on pace for 45 goals and 95pts while being a unicorn of physicality.
Trading him, Stutzle, or Sanderson would be a preposterous miscalculation of epic proportions.

You don’t trade guy like that to improve. Fortunately panicky fans don’t make trades.

didn't say he's bad.

just not a franchise player like many seem to think because of his last name and because of his playstyle.

NHL GM's and fans will overpay for Brady, same way they overpay for Clarkson and Anderson except Brady is actually good.
Not a franchise player, just really rare, like a franchise player, but he doesn't have the skill to be a franchise player.

The main issue with Brady is its pretty easy to throw him off his game.

Contract remaining vs what MT had left
That was too easy, thanks
Matthew at 9.5x8 is an infinitely better contract than Brady at 8.2x3

Matthew at 9.5x8 is comparable to Brady at league minimum for 3 years tbh in terms of surplus value tbh

(for anyone struggling with the math

Valuations of Matthew at 13.5 mill (if he was a UFA)= 4 mill per year surplus x 8=32 mill surplus value)
Valuation of Brady at 11 mill= 10.25 mill surplus per year on a league min deal x 3 = 30.75 mill total surplus value)
