Loved his game tonight. But I'm still concerned about him playing 82 games with his style of play. I'm worried a performance like this could cement him here all year when we could just send him to junior or the AHL to get experience and strength. Also keeping him up means he'll be UFA sooner and burn a year off his ELC. In four years time, having him still on that cheap contract could be huge for our penny pinching owner.

Overall though, if he keeps being one of our better forwards it's hard to argue against keeping him based on merit. He's earned his spot but I'm trying to have on eye on the future when we could be competitive. Kind of a catch 22 situation but the best guys should play.

He's gonna be a massive asset on the PP. Still see him as being a 40-50 point 2nd line guy but the net presence will be great.

For what it is worth...I am in Cali for work and Brady's 2nd goal was #5 on the top 10 plays of the day for ESPN.

Going to watch highlights now...not happy about giving up 7 goals but damn what is up with the NHL right now? Goals galore.

This post is from the Brady page on the prospect board. I thought it was interesting.

Since his thread is active, I thought this was an interesting quote from Lebrun's piece on what would like happen if MTL traded their 3rd in a package for ROR.

"And so the question is, which player would the Sabres have taken with the No. 3 overall pick, had it played out that way with Montreal? Brady Tkachuk, that’s who, according to a source."

Oh yes, and when he becomes a 45 point supplemental 2nd line player, I'm sure you'll admit you were terribly wrong and should have considered that my opinion wasn't just trolling.
Tkachuk, Bellows and Coyle are all pretty close in terms of status as prospects. They each have their own defining traits but they'll all be similarly productive 2nd line type of wingers in the NHL.

Couldnt agree more. Tkachuk has a long way to go.

Pro style game means nothing.

He is looking good so far! Looks better than Coyle and bellows at the same age

I still say let the kid go try for a Memorial Cup. Come up next year ready to dominate. Him and Formenton can go be leaders on and off the ice in London, and at their respective WJHC teams.

They save one more year on their ELC and it gives a guy like Chlapik a chance to develop at the NHL level. Next year we can have a new crop of rookies (Formenton, Tkachuk, Batherson, Brown) play at the NHL level and getting reps before we (likely) draft high in the 2020 (Lafreniere) draft. With Chalpik, White, Lajoie (2018-19 rookies) and Brown, Batherson, Formenton, Tkachuk, Jaros? (2019-2020 rookies) we'll have a very young team that has some experience heading into the 2020 season opener.

2020 lineup provided we keep Duchene and Stone but trade Dzingel.

Tkachuk - Duchene - Stone
Formenton - Lafreniere (cross your fingers) - Batherson
Chlapik - Brown - White
Balcers - Pageau - Ryan/Gagne, etc.

Chabot - Ceci
Lajoie - Jaros
Wolanin - UFA

People are still advocating sending the kid down? How much better does he have to play??

Some people get way to hung up juniors, like it's a video game where your stats are guaranteed to improve with extra simmed seasons. I wonder how much better McDavid could have been had the Oilers only sent him back for another season.... Kidding of course, but still. Watching BT these last two games should leave little doubt that he's already an excellent NHL player.

Loved his game, I remember one sequence when he was in front of the net with three flyers, had a chance in close, and then battled for the puck and came out with it against all three. He was a force whenever he was on the ice, and attacked the puck like no one else on the ice.

He seems to have so many plays in close, that comes from being a player that has played that spot his whole hockey life, not learning it on the fly. This kid is one of our best players so far, and one of the best players on the ice last night in a game filled with young talent on both squads.

There is no chance he should be sent down, two games in he's looking more like a Calder candidate top line PF, rather then a demotion candidate. And that Lajoie too.... Holy smokes do we have some awesome kids (Chabot, Lajoie, Tkachuk)

if he continues to play like last night then there is no way he's going anywhere.

really liking Brady but it's only been 2 games, it'll take a few years before we can judge the pick. At the end of the day, both sides who either liked the pick or didn't had very strong arguments.
