No they wont, his dad will tell them to f*** off....BT will play wherever he feels his son will get the best chance at developing into a top end playerOttawa will pressure him big time. Trying to entice people to buy tickets.
A full season in the AHL??I wouldnt mind it TBH,but it has to be a full season...No early call ups,let him play with guys like Brown,Batherson etc,And they can all grow togetherI don't think he's pro-ready ... 1 more year at BU or London whichever.
I also liked Studnicka for Canada. He is likely on the bubble
$$$.
If he plays with the big club next year, he can become a UFA at 25 after seven seasons.
Blake Wheeler is the only case I can recall where a really highly drafted player waited the entire four seasons.
Usually becoming a UFA after college happens because a player will be taken in the late rounds who wasn't going to be signed to an NHL contract in the first few years after their draft anyways, and then when they get to years 3 or 4 of college, they've developed really well and all of a sudden unrestricted free agency is very close. See Vesey, Butcher, Kerfoot.
I have a feeling Brady reports to camp this year - we saw how competitive he is with his brother (razzing him about being picked higher at the draft) and Matthew debuted with the Flames as an 18 year old.
I think he returns to college for another yr & turns pro the following season likely starting in Belleville, but should be up with the big club before Xmas.
One thing is for sure, Zadina will not drop the gloves with Tkachuk, however, I would not put it pass Tkachuk to wipe the ice with Zadina, Svechnikov, Dahlin, Kotkaniemi, Hayton, Hughes, Bodqvist, Walhstrom & almost everyone else in the first round with the exception of Miller.
Really, in a fight, you think so?Tkachuck wipe the ice with Dahlin, Svechnikov and Hughes? They'd make him look silly.
Really, in a fight, you think so?
No I mean playing the game of hockey. If you want to intimidate a team fighting does nothing. You forecheck hard and relentlessy. That's real toughness.
However, Dahlin and Svechnikov are just as big and strong as Tkachuk, and Hughes is too agile and fast.
They all think the game way wayyyyy better too. So he's largely going to be ineffective against them.
Tkachuk uses his size extremely well and can skate with all those guys, even if he probably doesn’t beat them in a straight line race from one end of the rink to the other (something that never happens in a real game anyways).
I think he would surprise you playing with or against those guys. Not the most skilled of the bunch, but he has above average hands and is one of the best and promising young « New Age » powerforwards to be drafted in recent history imo.
Even if he keeps up with them in a straight line, they are all more agile and crafty. That's the real issue. Great players like these 3 don't get thrown off by players who try to play them hard. They are thinking the game two steps ahead.
Tkachuk doesn't have the hockey sense of a Kopitar, Bergeron, Toews or Alfredsson to be a real antichrist to the elite players in the league.
I don’t think you quite grasped my point, and he doesn’t need to have uber elite level hockey sense like Alfie/Kopitar/Bergeron to be effective playing with or against players like those 3. He is above average in literally every aspect of hockey and his size mixed with his will to use it makes him a truly unique player imo.
no being punched in the face is more intimidating that hard forecheckingNo I mean playing the game of hockey. If you want to intimidate a team fighting does nothing. You forecheck hard and relentlessy. That's real toughness.
.
Well yea he will be effective. He's skilled big and pesky. But he'd be the third best player on any legit first line.
He can't carry a line/teamates defensively or offensively.
Definitely not as nhl ready.Too bad he isn't as good as his brother.
