Player Discussion Brady Tkachuk (LW) - Part XI

All young players have questions to their game until they have solidified their position in the NHL & answered to those questions. Tkachuk had all kinds of questions to his game when he was drafted, half this board didn't want him & he has answered most of those questions especially on the offensive side.

Stutzle has been good & is becoming a dominate forward & Sanderson has quickly taken over as this team's #1 defenceman. They went out & got Ullmark a Vezina Trophy winner in goal, but due to injuries he has been slow in returning to form. They brought in Jensen to solidify their top 4 & added Mantipalo to round out the defence & give us a shutdown pair.

The forward group needs to be reworked especially the bottom six which has not been able to provide that secondary scoring (Pinto & Greig aside who IMO are trending in the right direction) when required on a more consistent basis. It's not that they are bad, it's that they don't rise to the occasion when required. I expect that Staois will go out again & look to improve this in the off season. Hopefully, he can add a piece at the trade deadline that can also be part of the future with this team.
 


Looking like Brady will probably be either sitting in the press box or playing injured for the rest of this season. Hope he enjoyed playing in that meaningless tournament because it might have just cost him another shot at the playoffs.

Hard to call the tournament meaningless



It’s as meaningful as anything when you consider this is a business and more people found this worth watching than the SCF.

It sucks for us but it is what it is. You’re also jumping to conclusions a bit here when it comes to his injury, although you’re probably right he’ll be playing hurt for awhile at this point.

And the intro to the song is all about blazing it up.

Then you said he's on the next episode.

I thought it was a pretty easy/funny/light joke, but I could be wrong lol

Well this is getting ridiculous, isn't it?

Look, I respect this guys drive, what he showed during the Tournament was incredible, but we're f***ed if he's injured for any length of time. And as a fan of the Team first and foremost, that sucks.

Don't feel confident that he's playing tomorrow, when we go up against the top team in the league on a 10 game win streak.

At least Norris is looking like he's playing tomorrow - hopefully Pinto won't be long after. I feel better about our chances down the stretch having our 2 and 3 C's back in the mix. But if we look back at the end of the season and we're out of the dance, there's going to be a lot of finger pointing, and mine is going to be pointing straight at Brady for playing injured during the Tournament.

Yeah he's probably out for tomorrow. Saturday will be a big one in my eyes. I assume the Sharks aren't very good just looking at the standings, but if we lose to them with or without our captain. (Moreso with him in the line-up) I'll lose hope for a playoff push.

Even getting to OT if we’re still banged up in the next couple of games would help. We would’ve been in a much better position if when we went through tough stretches we could get an extra point here or there.

We have games against NYR and Detroit coming up which will be huge and could be the difference. Also three games against CLB left. So they have time to take matter into their own hands but they have to stop the bleeding right now, at least somewhat.

This is his logic:



Honestly if he plays like he did in the tournament for 24 games I would be shocked if we miss the playoffs so no one will end up caring. If he sucks when he comes back then I presume he will be taking a lot of heat for the rest of the season.

It’s not cool at all. Between tkachuk and merilainen.
He and the organization better be 100% sure we’re making the playoffs and ready to make some noise.

... did this guy really just refer to himself in the third person?

I'm sorry, but that math is a good reminder that NHL players aren't the sharpest nails... an extra day to get back the other 50%? Dude, you've had almost a week to get back that 50%. Where were you at after the Tournament, -80%?!
 
the part that sucks is that its not like team USA didn't have any replacement players and would have to put out some 4th liner. they would put out some other 1st line star.

The Senators on the other hand. Out Norris out Pinto, middle of a heated playoff race 8 years in the making...

This was selfish, and not fitting a captain. they cared more about marketing Tkachuk brand name than the responsibility to the Senators or the C.

hopefully we make the playoffs because if we miss its going to be by a couple of points.

Also Sanderson should be captain.

Well technically it gives him three extra days since our next game is Saturday. So maybe now he is improving at a rate of 16.67% per day. Don’t ask me to explain his rate prior to now, I can’t go that deep into an NHLer’s brain.
 
It sucks he got hurt, but I think the anger towards Brady is misplaced. What makes him a special player is that he doesn't turn it on and off. Preseason, regular season, whatever it is he's going to bring it.

Blame the NHL for holding the event. Don't blame the player for being who he is, because at the end of the day I wouldn't want him to change.
