Marry me.

Just kidding. I prefer my wife.

Best post of December 2023

Of course you’d love a post that out down fans and glorified a celebrity who you’ve projected your intentions onto.

Not liking Ottawa fans is your thing

So comical to read some posters schooling other posters on their opinion by saying nobody owe them sweet fawkall lol
They preach the exact contrary in their post but are not clever enough to acknowledge it :help:

Lack of maturity is a team problem with this group. Also doesn't help with a severe lack of direction from the management side of things. Coddling the kids and throwing massive deals with no pushback at them and acting like they're on the verge of greatness when they've never gotten within sniffing distance of the playoffs isn't how you deal with young players who need direction. You could see this result coming miles away.

Now, we do have Martin and Alfredsson working with the guys now...but it will take time. Some parts of their game will have to be broken down and rebuilt.

Now this is a professional league. Fans are going to fan. You want to be a pro, crazy fans are part of it. Brady and the rest need to learn how to deal with it. People in message boards and debate until the end of time whether it's fair or not. The pressure and expectations aren't going away. Same goes for any high pressure workplace.

I think you're absolutely correct on this one. And its why I think DJ should have gone before the start of last season.

Everyone throws out the word accountability but I think its very apt. DJ was everyone's buddy, and when you're someone's buddy its hard to throw hard truths at them. THis team is young, the key pieces are utterly loaded. They didn't really have to pay their dues. They just showed up, played pond hockey and scored lots of points without much pressure to succeed beyond that, so they were gifted insane contracts and are filthy stinking rich.

I remember being in my early 20s. If someone gave me millions of dollars to do what I loved I would 100 percent have thought I was a rock star and that my shit didn't stink. They needed tough love to keep them in check and to make sure they played things the right way.

Its fun to score goals. It's not fun to backcheck, to give up a potential rush to change lines. To take a hit to make a play. They needed hard coaching to drill all that into them and they didn't get it.

Martin, Alfie . . . they're going to have to make these kids unlearn a lot of things. That's going to take time. Its going to take at least the rest of the season. It's why so many of us wanted a new coach before the season started.

Its probably too late to make the playoffs . . . but the right coaches are in place to get this team moving in the right direction. If it doesn't happen . . . then we have bigger problems.

This team hasn't gone to war for years. Since 2017 to be exact.

They have been getting eliminated by December instead and then when the pressure is off, going on their run.

You call that going to war?

And the problem is that they are good. They just like playing junior hockey too much.
LOL, this is hockey...nobody is going to "war"

Reminds me of the time a friend of mine was in a meeting about a product shortage for a retailer/manufacturer we worked for. Him and a couple of engineers cracked a joke and had a chuckle, and the overly serious retail exec loses it on them saying this was a life or death situation... To which my buddy (former army) burst out laughing and said "sorry, is there anyone shooting at us right now?"

Perspective.

These are young adults playing a game for outrageous sums of money. I don't say hat to discount anyone's effort on the ice, or minimize a fans buy in... But perspective.

I was in attendance at the game tonight and the players knowing that I was at the game upped their level of play as they were trying to impress me obviously... ( ok maybe not...but anyways)...Brady was very dominant tonight vs the Penguins. First star! He was throwing crushing bodychecks. 1 goal ( his team leading 15th), 2 assists. He made a pass to Brannstrom and Brannstrom scored a beautiful goal going top cheese and getting his first goal in 14 games his second of the season.

@Agent Zub

Awfully quiet in here after Bradys’s one goal, 3 point 1st star game

Nice plays. Especially when he drew the penalty cutting back below the hashmarks, that was chefs kiss. D had no clue how to handle him.

Still a lot of work to do defensively.

Hopefully Martin and Alfredsson can sort him out.

Thought he’s played relatively well defensively the past few games, with a couple of high effort defensive plays. But more importantly I think he’s staying in the defensive zone more often rather than cheating ahead for the stretch pass.

Maybe I’m seeing what I want to see since the coaching change, but looks to me like he’s trying to pay attention to positioning on D more than before. With varied results, but hoping there is more to come for Brady defensively.

Didn't get to see much of the game.
Brady was definitely in the highlights
He had a good overall game. Was a beast downlow. He had a defensive hiccup when he went after the same player Giroux covered on the point which led to the game tying goal but other than that he was hitting, not bad defensively, didn't cherry pick and collected a couple of points.

Martin will have an extremely positive effect on Brady IMO.

So, I was farrr too young to be into the finer details of hockey when Martin last coached the Sens... (The first game I saw was the Alfreddson-Tucker "incident" in 02... I was 8?)

on the positive effect part... Could this be assumed to also apply to players like Greig, Kleven, and Boucher? If they were all being coached by Martin? Physical guys with a little offense in their games?

Yes. He is a phenomenal tactical coach. I think he will bode well for every player on the team. Remember that whatever he teaches will become a habit, a good habit as he focuses on defense first.

You can already see it in his first few games with the team where he is always engaged and talking to the players on the bench. I have never ever seen DJ do that once in his entire career here.

I'm quite sure that the "flying the zone " play and having someone up by the red line was something DJ wanted because it's disappeared in the last 3 games.

Yeah I think so too. Brady maybe never be a selke contender but buying into a new message and changing his style to suit and trust a new coaching strategy is good captain shit.

This, 100%.

All teams do it from time to time but that was, and probably still is to a degree, a core strategy to get the puck out and into the other teams zone.

With our skill, I don't think it's our best option and like the idea of more puck possession.

The idea that Brady was just taking off, over and over again, to cherry pick was ridiculous from the get-go.

His defensive effort has been great this year and he is 1st forward back, many times.

As a forward who wouldn't love a coach that let you cherry pick at the other teams blue line rather than help your mates struggling for their lives in the Dzone

forwards who want the W over personal stats.

definitely less cherry picking now and the team is better for it.

Chef's kiss you say.

That can only mean that Tkachuk is a target of the Canucks GMPA.

I sometimes lurk the Leafs PGTs.

It's funny how Brady is getting under that fan bases skin.

getting under our skins too, two terrible games defensively. as the captain he needs to stop doing shit that would be unacceptable for rookie.

I think the reason why DJ told Brady to just blow the zone is he sucks in the defensive zone and always gets pulled out of position. better to just have him cherry pick and pull a defenseman out doing so. make it a 4 on 4 instead of what feels like a 4 on 5.

would be bench worthy if a rookie was doing this shit. how is it okay for the captain?

he gotta gotta wisen up and quick.

hopefully martin and alfredsson can fix him.

How do you really feel? I just like that he gets under the other fanbases skin.
All I'm saying.
