The Suzuki deal makes it pretty hard for the Brady camp to argue the money is wrong on a LT deal. Must be an unwillingness to commit to Ottawa, so sign a bridge and trade him at the deadline of his last year.
In the end the Sens will cave and give him the 3 year deal he wants. Its easy to play hard ball when games havent even started yet.
Senators are a small market Canadian team and there whole survival is draft and develop
They need players they draft and develop to buy in and sign fair long term contracts as the stars are not coming via UFA.
You underestimate Ottawa’s resolve….. If Brady is not signed by Dec 1 st he misses the whole season and still owes Ottawa 4 RFA years!
The GMs of the league have to learn that the only way all teams are going to survive is the $ is there if the player wants to sign for 6,7,8 years coming out of ELC….. but if they want to take a 1-2 year bridge it is significantly less!
5- 5.5 mill in this case for a 1 year. And the player can take the $50 -60million dollar risk in case of injury or a drop in play.
Ottawa should have a one year offer on the table for November 29th. And it should be something like $3mm.Senators are a small market Canadian team and there whole survival is draft and develop

note I think Tkachuk is a fool to sign an 8 x $8mm offer. He should wait to sign an 8 year deal with Ottawa until he’s much closer to UFA in order to get the overpay on years 6-8 when he’s in his 30s.
But if he won’t sign a long term deal (and he shouldn’t) he does need to prepare for one heck of an AAV haircut on a 1-3 year bridge deal this season.
Carolina Svechnikovs deal is also a great comparable……. As I would take Svech over Brady any day!
If BT really wants to sign for only 3 seasons, give him the minimum you can. Why pay big bucks for a guy who doesn't want to be in Ottawa and leave as soon as he can ?
That's why there's a holdup. He wants more even on a bridge deal (high QO).
He can stay home then. Ottawa is not forecasted to make the Playoffs again and are not attracting fans at their arena even if BT is on the team.
Nah. If he wants three years, you give him a crappy AAV and trade him to someone like Vegas who needs to keep his cap hit down.unless he wants nothing to do with ottawa then he should never sign 8 years.
I think him and his brother want to go to ST Louis. So if im the Sens im giving him what ever he wants for 3 years and moving him for a signed long term piece. ie jack eichel

so something like Tkachuk for Krebs, R Smith and a 2022 2nd + 2023 3rd.
It would be money for the Senators if Tkachuk played for them instead but they're too stupid to realize that. Offering one deal is f***ing ridiculous.I’d trade him to New Jersey lol
Having Brady Tkatchuk alongside Jack Hughes would be money for the Devils moving forward.
What's your offer?I’d trade him to New Jersey lol

On a 3 year deal, you’ll need to temper your expectations. That’s not locked up long enough. I sent a 1st round prospect that is NHL ready, 2nd line winger and two decent picks. The problem with Tkachuk is that he is one of a kind. And he knows it. Big, mean , productive power forward with charisma. The return should be more than that.
That costs you the youngest Hughes.

I think New Jersey has some prospects that would entice Ottawa without the youngest Hughes having to be involved...
Well they don't have the money to overpay their players like the Leafs. It would be money for the Senators if Tkachuk played for them instead but they're too stupid to realize that. Offering one deal is f***ing ridiculous.
Nice Mentality. This is why your senators have no star players.Well they don't have the money to overpay their players like the Leafs.
