So....Brady or Byram, who would people rather have?

(Yes I know we could have had both).
Tkachuk, easily for me. I've said it before & I'll say it again, I love the way BT plays & wished that all of his teammates would play with his kind of intensity, determination & tenacity. Wow three good words in one sentence.

Hillarious.

One of us said Stone would be signing in January and made captain.

The other one said he (along with Duchene and Dzingle) would be gone as part of the financially motivated firesale.

And for interests sake, how many teams have you been on? At what level? (House League, High School, Club, Provincial, College/University, Semi Pro, National Team, Professional)

(You present yourself as an expert on the subject of team dynamics, so I'm intrigued by your background)

I dunno, in my last few years of midget I played junior B and some A, so while Im no expert, I feel confident in saying that if you are questioning if Brady Tkachuk is the type of player that is beloved in a dressing room, Im going to guess you havent been in many of them yourself.

Hes definitely one of, if not the most popular players in that Sens dressing room. And I can say that fairly confidently without ever even having set foot in there. Hes just one of those guys, not sure how else to explain it to you though to be honest.

Too early to call.

Brady Tkachuk has gotten off to a good start, but his skating needs to develop more and we'll see if he's going to be a line driver, or a complementary, high-effort guy. For a 4th overall pick, you'd like to see consistent ~70 point seasons.

Byram, we have no idea what he'll end up as.

In most cases, I'd take the top end defenseman over the top end winger, but Tkachuk looks to be a very unique player, so there's value there.

Perhaps, but Brady has been deserving for most of the penalties he's got from what I've seen.

Sure, but as we all know there are a million little things not called every game. The refs like to reel in the kids, and as they get older have a little more leeway to play their game.

Im not talking about letting egregious penalties go uncalled by the way.

I just don’t see the calls BT gets as being problematic.

Brady Tkachuk is a bad skater; Brady Tkachuk cannot stay on his skates; Brady Tkachuk cannot dangle; Brady Tkachuk is not a sniper; Brady Tkachuk is not fast; Brady Tkachuk is not a great passer.

However...

Brady Tkachuk comes to play; Brady Tkachuk scores goals, Brady Tkachuk lives in the opposing goalies crease, Brady Tkachuk is not afraid to take a stick to the head; Brady Tkachuk is a threat; Brady Tkachuk does what other players will not do; Brady Tkachuk creates space for his teammates, Brady Tkachuk is not afraid to get hurt, Brady Tkachuk is an NHL coach's dream; Brady Tkachuk is the definition of "go to the net and good things will happen".

Brady Tkachuk is exactly what this team needs; Brady Tkachuk is the player that this team has been lacking since inception. Brady Tkachuk would have beat the Leafs in playoffs past, Brady Tkachuk was the perfect pick for this team.

I have zero doubt his antics would play well in a junior locker room.

Brady because he excels in front if the net and that is something this franchise has historically struggled with.

Chabot and Brannstrom mean we should be good on D while we need a lot more firepower up-front.

I have friends in the NHL, Ive drank from the cup, and I bet you would be surprised what goes on in the pro's, on many levels.. Big egos are that something everyone has to manage.

Regardless, it doesnt matter what age you are or how cocky you are, your place in the room goes hand in hand with how good of a player you are.Egos only get put in check if your not a good player.

Brady seems like a good kid either way though. And with his famous last name and high level of talent coupled with his hardworking style of play, hes always going to be a massive presence in whatever locker room hes in.

Give the kid a chance. He's still a teenager. He needs to grow into his body a whole lot more, and learn how to use it.

Hell, for all we know, he might be using the wrong rocker for his blades for the style he plays, or might benefit from different skates altogether. Or perhaps a slight change to his skating stance/mechanics.

In any case, I'd rather have a player you need to put the reigns on and try to calm down a bit, than to have a blob of mud on the bench that you need to scream and yell at to see any kind of effort out of him. Brady definitely feels like he is coachable, and a bit of maturity and effort with the coaching staff will get him on the best track for him.

Tkachuk is an absolutely beautiful hockey player. I get Iginla vibes from this guy. He's gonna be a tank and unbelievable for us during his prime.

We are 1 star forward/centre and top 4 defender away from possessing an amazing core moving forward.

Awkward skater yes...but he has good hands, especially in tight which makes his game effective. Hard to complain about the only player who has the balls to park himself in front of the net since Foligno did back in the day.

Brady boy-man!

The Ottawa Senators list Brady Tkachuk’s vitals at 6-foot-3 and 196 pounds. That’s the thing about the NHL. The height and weight at which you enter the league is the same one that follows you throughout your career.

But a lot has changed for Brady Tkachuk in just over a year. Most importantly, Tkachuk has gained 16 pounds since then and now tips the scales at a very annoying 212 pounds. But after a summer in which he and older brother, Matthew, rented a home in suburban Toronto and worked with fitness guru Gary Roberts, skills coach Jari Byrski and skating coach Dawn Braid, that 212 pounds is distributed much differently now

Brady Tkachuk is leaner and possibly meaner, and that's good news for the Ottawa Senators - TheHockeyNews By Ken Campbell

Well so much for the narrative that Tkachuk was living off of Mark Stone last year. Small sample size so far this season, but for players with minimum 50 5 on 5 minutes, in on-ice stats, Tkachuk is currently sitting 3rd in the NHL in RelxGF/60, 12th in RelSCF/60 and 4th in RelHDC/60. I prefer the relative stats, but for those who don't like them, his raw per 60 rankings are pretty close to the same.

I like to pair on-ice stats with individual stats. At 5 on 5, Tkachuk ranks 1st in the NHL in ixGF/60, 2nd in iSCF/60 and 1st in iHDCF/60.

This franchise is been struggling with a game-breaker forward for a very long time. Even Duchene and Stone doesn't cut it
