I said from the beginning I would have traded Nylander rather than give in to the demands of an RFA. It isn't hsi fault that he was hired so young and tasked with negotiating these contracts.Why is it "considering how much their salaries make it impossible" rather than "considering how much he overpaid them makes it impossible"?
You may be right that they "won't ice a better playoff ready team than last year with the current cap structure", but who's fault is "the current cap structure"?
Is it on the players or the GM?
All of the wizards on Sportsnet (especially) and TSN who demanded he get signed because it would hurt their bottom line otherwise, pressured Dubas and the MLSE.
Recall how much SN overpaid for 13 years of NHL hockey. They took a bath and the CEO is a former CEO for a reason. My guess is that someone grossly miscalculating the revenue streams and Leafs as always overpay because they have the cash. This won't work in a capped era.
