Boston can offer something to the Flames that no other teams in the league would offer. That is a No.1 goalie in Ullmark.Still though those teams have next to nothing to offer.

Only the NHL is the NHL.
Every other league is inferior.
Stop worrying about picks.
Trade those picks for NHL players.
That’s loser mentality from those two teams if that’s the case. They’ll never win if that’s how they are going to be as GM’s. Putting emotions over what’s best for the team equals no success. My guess is unless Tre overpays, Calgary would rather move Hanafin to any other team. I also can't see Dubas doing anything to help Shanny and the Leafs.
Not necessarily. If Tre and another GM makes similar offers, they pass on Tre's. If Tre offers more they make the deal with Tre. You can't tell me some of these guys don't hold grudges and we already know Flames' ownership were not happy with the way it played out with Tre.That’s loser mentality from those two teams if that’s the case. Hopefully he won't shoot himself in the foot like the previous GM did.Treliving is ready to make a move or two!
The window won't be 'open' for another year, when JT's $11M error ends. But I think this is the attitude a team has to have. Win while your window is open, and worry about the inevitable rebuild later.

McKegg got us a great player in a trade, let's keep hyping these guys upC'mon man, the OHL is not the NHL. This fan base lost their shit over Greg McKegg too.

Enough lessons should have been learned by then surely.Great that our window “opens” when Rielly is 31, Nylander is 29, and both Matthews and Marner are 28.
I say we wait for another year at least after that just to be safeEnough lessons should have been learned by then surely.
Hopefully the most important one is learned, and Marner won’t be here.Enough lessons should have been learned by then surely.
That was in response to a post suggesting only NHL players have value. The Leafs have done that for the past half decade and it’s accomplished absolutely NOTHING.
Generally speaking, most teams aren’t willing to trade away their best players. And when they do, it’s never at a discount.
Dumbass has let his emotions get in the way of making a good trade in the past.
Remember the Zach Hyman debacle? Dumbass pouted and refused to accept a FREE 6th round pick for Hyman, even though it meant he would ZERO in return and still end up losing Hyman to Edmonton.
I supported Dubas holding out for a higher pick then and I do now. I didn't think it was 3D Chess though. I have only seen that in star trek episodes. The funniest part of that whole fiasco was a huge amount of posters here that thought it was a great move by Dubas to *not* get a free draft pick because somehow they thought it was some big 3D Chess move against the Oilers.
Tanner is a pidgeon.he probably never played any sportView attachment 828555
edit: He even spelt Cowan wrong...

No, I supported saying that if you want the service you have to pay for it or you don't get it.So you support saying "I want a higher pick, or I will take no pick at all!"
You think that was a good strategy here?

Exactly. At the end of the day, it's a sixth round pick and really doesn't matter much.
I don't think there is much he can do that is of consequence no matter what it is.
If you trade that first round pick...Good, its not going to be worth much and whatever/whoever it is likely isn't going to help this version of the Leafs/this core all that much.
Then again if you trade it, whatever you get for a late 1st isn't likely to be transformative and turn this team into something it isn't.
I'd probably lean toward trading it....at this point ANY help would be good. Maybe a guy you bring in is only a little better than what you have, but 'a little better' can be the difference between winning and losing a close 7 game series. I just don't think anyone you bring in puts this team over the top as a cup favorite.
We barely have a "Bracco and a 2nd" type of deal to make with our dearth of prospects. It's pretty sad what we were left with after all those failed years.Right. Total lack of foresight. We could make a big splash, get an NMC to waive. We have Cowan ( what luck) and Minten who is a 3c. Leaf fans have no idea what cupboards are bare means. You asked for bare cupboards. This is pretty much it. Every other team outbids you .They wanted one round at all costs You got it. One round, no cup this year.. period.
Or cheer and enjoy the moment.I think we will re-sign him and as fans we just have to wait until they all retire for us to move forward. There is no way to build a roster that can win the Cup with all that money tied up in 3 or 4 players.
It is beyond frustrating, but what can we do? We just need to be patient for another 8 or 9 years and then go from there.
Big splash my azzets. The only assets we have we either can't trade i.e Cowan, Minten or no one really wants. A late first plus Robertson won't get you much and Niemela doesn't move the needle. So what do they expect Tre to splash with? He has even less to work with next year. What year of the build is this? They are set up like a team that has already won two cups. In 2 years they may even have to tank. Mindboggling. We barely have a "Bracco and a 2nd" type of deal to make with our dearth of prospects. It's pretty sad what we were left with after all those failed years.
