GIving up futures for a rental seems like a really bad idea. 30 games in, the team is 9th overall, 12th overall in regulation and an inch away from 15th. Thinking we have a realistic chance at going on a cup run is pure insanity. I know you keep predicting we'll take over 1st place, first you said January, then you said we'll do it by end of the year, maybe one of these days you'll face the reality that this team isn't as good as you think it is. Even if we do take over 1st place, it means nothing in teams of being a contender if we can't even crack the top 10 teams in regulation hockey.

It's the same team that beat the Rangers 7-3 and the Pens 7-0, right? I think you can take as much from the 7-0 game as you can from the 9-3 game, which is not much of anything. The bigger body of work points to being the best offensive team in the league, but a team that needs to tighten its defensive approach. Sure, I meant based on this years performance to date they're a bubble team. I think they're better than that as well though considering how bad they've been so far this season, perhaps they're not quite as good as they once were either. And since those teams haven't even come close to going deep in the playoffs, I wouldn't expect too much from them this season either.

I don't get this negativity towards Domi. I was at the game on Saturday and Domi was the most noticeable Leaf player in that game. He generated a ton of offense and made a few good defensive plays too. His vision is quite impressive. He had a slow start but is now trending toward a 50 point season and his goal total will rise. Feels like trolling when people still complain about him at this point in the season.

Treveling isn't allowed to do his job. He is a dog on Shannys leash. That being said everything he did backfired. The way Dubas quit left them scrambling and not one gamble paid off. They are 3 or even 4 players away from contending.There is no way to fix that.

On the other hand, you could say he acquired our current number one goalie Martin Jones for under a million and somehow didn't lose him on waivers and managed to get Auston Matthews signed for medium term and patched up the blueline well enough with Benoit and Lagesson to be in a playoff position in January.

We'd been running crazy hot in gimmick points but we weren't really playing very well, that's the way I saw it anyway. I still think we're potentially a lot better than we've shown so far, but not really close to an 111 point team either. The Gordie Howe Hatrick was cool though, love Knies!
