Buyout ASAP. The amount of money he's making to play like Blair Betts is just offensive.
Wrong kind of offense...

I have an idea to get a top 6 center to compliment , Stepan , hypothetically Lindbergh , Miller . You make a hockey trade . Doesn't have to be a flashy name just a player with good wheels that isn't crap in his own end and can transport the puck and distribute it to Nash .
So, you're one of those people that waits almost 2 years to pat yourself on the back? And after about 20 games of poor play, no less. Lockout shortened season...the list goes on.
I'm not saying hes going to last his entire contract, or even past the summer of 2014, but I do think holding out hope that Richards can revert back to his old form is the best play right now. Certainly a better decision than ranting and raving about how you want him gone with no suitable plan to how we'll get a top 6 center.
Sorry I didn't post on this internet forum to validate my point earlier, I didn't know I had to document my thoughts on this forum for them to be valid in the world. I can waste some time and give you links to other forums where I did if that so important to you.
But rediculousness aside, I do think having him off the ice without replacement is best at this point. Its a turnover more than 50% of the time he touches the puck and I don't think forcing a guy making this type of cash into the lineup who is doing nothing helps a locker room. And I don't think he's reverting back to his old form - have you been watching Ranger games? I hope I am wrong, but he is just constantly a step behind every time he is on the ice. He is an old guy, doesn't stay in the best shape, and it was a long off season - probability says there will be no reverting back.
So, you're one of those people that waits almost 2 years to pat yourself on the back?
You have the balls to ask me if I watch Ranger games when you make silly statements like the one above?
I see a guy that is struggling mightily, but I dont have to make up things to try and justify it. More importantly, Im not going to whine about wanting him gone knowing this team will be just as bad if not worse if theres no suitable replacement lined up.
Well if it makes you feel any better, I was in these forums early in the Richards speculation threads not buying into what so many people were saying...that Richards would instantly fix our power play, and combine with Gaborik to give us the next 1-2 superstar combination of our generation.
I thought Richards would help for a couple of years, but a long contract would cripple us in the future. I was right to some extent about the first part, and luckily the new CBA gave Sather another safety net to bounce Richards in the next two years.
Yes, freeing up cap space is a horrible idea. OK, Glenn, stop posting now.
Yea - last month we were going to free up all this cap space to sign Getzlaf or Perry. Whoops.
You have every right to whine about the current situation with no suitable plan forward. And I have every right to tell you how childish that is.
OK, thanks for your strong logic.
I stand by we are better off without Richards. If you didn't know we have young guys such as DelZotton and others we need to sign this offseason and don't have cap space for. We lost guys like Prust because we didn't have cap space for him. But let's just keep a guy who is doing nothing eating up 7mil of cap space. I am sorry, but it doesn't make sense to me. We aren't coming close to winning the cup with Richards in or out of the lineup so I'd like to stop the bleeding before his cap hit causes the team more problems.
So you're not going to admit that Richards was an integral part to a #1 seed in the East and a trip to the ECF last year?
Huh? I said I thought Richards would help for a couple of years, and to some extent, he has. He had an up and down season last year (with more ups than he's had so far this year) but played pretty well in the playoffs and came up big at times.
According to your criteria I'm also allowed to preach now about the drafting of McIlraith, since I was on these boards the very next day disagreeing vehemently with the draft choice. I'm hoping in the long term I turn out to be wrong, but I was against the pick the instant it was announced.
Do you guys think we would really buy out Richards after that long-term contract he gave him after just one bad season?

Thats not an idea. Thats a bunch of words with no plan.
And having Miller AND Lindberg be ready for consistent NHL duty next season is just insane.
I bet NYR can lose just as easily with low cost rookies as they are doing with past their prime players like Richards . It's not like RIchards great defense or face off ability is off the charts good . He literally brings down every line he is on and could probably be easily replaced by a rookie , mistakes inexperience and all . I mean what's worst can happen they will be out of the playoff picture with 18 games to go.
Im no fan of Sather, but you called the amnesty buyout "lucky." I call it calculated.
We like to give all our money to under-performing, aging stars, and give up on guys like Prust and Parenteau. It's the Ranger way.
Richards is a pu pu platter. I hope we all enjoyed our brief dreams of winning a cup, cuz that ain't happening anytime soon. Right now we a very average team. If you can't beat a decimated Panther team, at home, good luck making the playoffs.
