Brad Richards Part II

Richards has an emotional finish the Philly game....comes back the next two HUGE games and ends up scoring a total of 4 goals and an assist.

Keep it up Brad!

Blind squirrel finds nuts.

Not sold yet. But at least he is showing some life.

If Richie is really hitting his stride right now and carries this into the playoffs then an entirely new dimension will be added to this team.

He scored 9 (I believe) GWG last year. We know what he can do and he is too young to have just lost it in a year. Without his usual training camp, figure it took him half of a regular season to really hit his stride. Now his legs are moving and hes putting pucks on net. He is the kind of player who, when he has the puck on his stick, needs to bring the game to his own speed... and that's what he's been doing the last few games.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is the key skater in a first round upset of whoever the Rangers play.

It's all about when and if torts realizes you can't keep a guy like richards grinding for 50minutes and expect him to produce at PPG pace. Give him some free reign to actually y'know, create offense?

Too much ice time and playing defense causes missing empty nets and drop passes to opponents...

Forgot this was in the default avatar list for HFBoards.

Look I'm not gonna say Richards hasn't been awful at times this year, and really pissed me off at times.

But more than any of the other big name UFAs that have came to the Rangers and struggled he is the one guy who at this juncture I am still really rooting for to turn it around. Just seems that more than some other examples we've seen here, he wants it and is really taking his struggles to heart.

im happy for brad.. the way i look at it is.. lets maximize his value for this year and next and get the most out of him!! confidence is key, and we all know we're not getting anywhere the reminder of the season and the playoffs if this guy isn't playing well.. go brad!! still buying you out tho in 14' ;) just please win us a cup, thank you!!

Whatever was holding him back earlier in the season seems to be gone, hopefully it stays gone. The "mental" angle is huge, he was doing a very poor job hiding his frustration early. Maybe his play of late gives him all the confidence needed for the rest of the year. He's certainly getting hot at the right time.

I agree with you 100%, I believe in the guy. He'll turn it around

Love that Richards is getting points. But I'm not about to call any of his 5 points these past 2 games good. In fact they were all horrible/flukey.

But, I'm not going to argue with him showing up on the scoreboard. Him getting going pushes us to another level.

Glad to see him putting up points too. I still have my doubts though that he's reached some sort of turning point given that 8 of his 9 points since the trade have been in blowouts. I'll admit that he looks better even in the games recently where he hasn't put up points, but if he still can't produce when the games are tight you gotta seriously consider dumping him.

Also, for those who claim it was Gaborik dragging him down, hard to deny there's a correlation but I don't see how he could be responsible for such a dramatic drop in Richard's play. Maybe now that Richards is playing 3rd line center he's facing weaker opponents?

I know that I already mentioned this last night in the PGT, but I think that Richards returning to form would be huge for this team. If they actually make the playoffs, having two centers playing at a first line level could potentially push them over the edge.

Unfortunately, while Richards has been skating better these past two games, his production has most certainly been due to flukey plays. Hopefully the increase in production helps his confidence, but I'm not convinced that it will.

All you sallys hopping back into the BR BW :sarcasm:

When he delivers great performance in a great year and run like that for the first time, it's hard to get mad at him.

Yeah and when Gaborik got rid of Torts he became a new player in Columbus.

Great logic, amirite?

Sound logic actually. A change of scenery can do wonders.

I liked Gabby but even if some don't want to admit it, the guy was a quitter this year. It was not the right fit anymore and he's gone. I wish him well with his new team, but I'm very glad he's not with us any more.

I can't remember the last time (if ever) I've seen someone get three lucky goals for a hat trick. And suddenly everyone loves him?
