I'm not 100% sold on Brassard being a first or second line center yet. It could be a hot streak, it could be he's finally taking the next step. Either way, if Richards is bought out, I want no part of Boyle as the third line center. I'd rather JT Miller get a try at third line center next season if he looks ready.

this guy is terribad! He should be ashamed of this disgraceful way to come and play as our #1 center. He's getting bucket loads of cash, and he started this season unprepared.

If he's going through family/health issues then God is my witness i don't mean to speak ignorantly. But he should have went for counseling, etc. and gotten his head straight. He is an abomination on the ice right now.

What a bad signing this looks right now, what happened to this guy? How is it justified to even keeping him? Just really bad

Send him down, use JT Miller or something

I'm not saying we should go out and sign Kessel, although I sure wouldn't be upset if we did, but where in the world are you getting the locker room cancer thing? From all accounts he's been quite a leader on Toronto in his time there.

I know he had the issues with his drafting but that was quite some time ago.

Also, I've watched quite a few Toronto games this year, the guy doesn't take shifts off and is an exceptionally fast player. He'd fit quite well into our dump and chase system.

Again, not advocating for him, but to say we shouldn't go after him because he's a locker room cancer is absurd. No proof and that's just grasping at straws.

Stuff I heard while he was I Boston, from people I know (not affiliated with team any longer). They could be exaggerating just what I heard. I never said he was like that in Toronto I have no idea, just that I am not a fan of those players.

EDIT: It was what I heard, I do not want to spread rumors as to what he is currently. The info I stated was from 5+ years ago when he was a kid.

He was what, 21, 22 when he was on Boston? I could make a hall of fame team, ten times over, with guys who weren't mature at that age.

I'll give Kessel the benefit of the doubt, the guy was young, making gazillions, on a competitive team and all of a sudden gets cancer.

He seems to have matured quite a bit in Toronto. I'd gladly take him on my team any day.

I'd rather use Michael Haley or Kris Newbury over Richards right now.

I was open to giving the guy another shot next year since we still have the amnesty. After the past 9 playoff games, I want him off the team this summer. At this point I dont even care if he is scratched for game 3. Im sick of the sight of this guy. God no more 30 year old long term deals please to Glen and future GMS of the Rangers. I know Clowe has his own friend but I am also worried about that situation as well .All this while Hank is another year older.

Maybe you should forget about that altogether.

Yeah...why would we want any of the top Leaf forwards , a team that finished ahead of us...and was within a whisker of beating the Bruins without Bozak in the last game taking key draws...with him in that game...Leafs would be leading us by 2 instead of the Bruins .:sarcasm: We best wait until they are 32 and then sign them for 12 Million a season forever .

I think this team will have some contract signing problems next season...I doubt all our guys will sign for what we will be offering . Besides...this is the Rangers...we always pay more ! ;)

For what it's worth, I have a good fried who worked for the Bs for a bit and passed along the exact same information. And this was way before he was close to being let go. Maybe he has matured, but if not the word "diva" definitely would be fitting.

A few people gave me a LOT of grief for criticizing him early and often this year. I was hoping he'd get back to form but I called it like I saw it. He sucked. He's gotten even worse. What a garbage can

Really incredible how quickly he fell off. Jeez.

I'm not really much of a stats person, but just looking at the numbers, he started a decline in his last year in Dallas.

Maybe a handful of clutch/lucky plays last year clouded people's judgements on him just a bit?

I mean by the numbers you can look back and say that.

To me it's just shocking what a different hockey player he is. Atthe start of last year just off the top of my head...sweet pass to Girardi to tie the game late v Carolina, ridiculous snipe vs Carey Price at the Garden, then later in the year the end to end goal vs Detroit. All were top line C hockey plays.

He hasn't even produced anything remotely close to that this year. He may have been declining but this year he fell off a cliff to AHL level of play. It's really shocking to me to be honest.

if your looking for a playoff goat, or a regular season goat, look no further than B.Richards.

We essentially lost a top 3 player, a top line playmaking center, PP specialist, goal scoring,...

You cannot underestimate the effect his descent is having on the club right now. A big game playoff performer, brought here to make a difference in series just like this and he is an absolute failure all over the ice.

if he's injured, then get him off the ice.

Now you know why the Rangers were taking a hard look at ROR and they acquired Brassard.

definitely.

If we were to buyout Richards this summer, with his salary gone do you think the Rangers would pursue Shea Weber via trade? Could this be possible?

Why does everyone want to buy out Richards just so we can spend the money on another high-priced player?

you would want to keep him and risk injury?

I wouldn't want just any high priced player. I would want Shea Weber.

It made sense to me at the time, it would make more sense now as well.

Sucks to have 7 million of dead cap space. Again....

They will need help scoring goals and creating scoring chances. I like the team as it is currently constructed but they need to subsidize this team with more offense somehow, whether that be via trade or UFA I don't care, just no more crap contracts.

replacing one high salary with another high salary is stupid especially if that player isnt Malkin Stamkos Kane etc.. Weber signed too long of a deal.. no thanks... no more long term contracts.. some fans dont learn

Someone needs to hand Sather a set of guidelines when the season is over.

Near the top of that list should be the buy out of Richards. Now, of course that offense (or, to put it better, perceived offense) needs to be replaced. I hope Sather is active in the trade/free agent markets, but he should be restricted from adding term thats over 3 years.
