I wonder what happens with Brassard now that Richards is back. Does AV play him on the 2nd or 3rd line as a center? Or do they move him to the wing? Or do they use him as trade bait to fill another hole? I just want sunday to be done and over with already. Im sick of checking twitter and hfboards every 15 minutes.

No one said Richards can't play wing if he scrubs it up at C

FWIW, while I was far from pleased with his play and would have preferred to see him bought out, I never thought Brad was as bad as so many did.

He wasn't. For me, it's all about the contract, not his play. We simply can't afford to keep his contract.

Alrighty, being that I joined Team Optimist last week...

I feel Richards is gonna have a bounce back year, play well, and stay healthy, thus leading to his buyout next summer!

any chance Sather didnt buyout Richards to entice Vinny Lecavalier to come here

What year is it now? I forgot.

The year of Brad Richards :sarcasm:

Will he bounce back? yes. Will he be a 80-90pts 1C? probably not.

If the Buyout was not a part of the equation, people would be content with Richards working his ass off this summer to come back to redeem himself.

I'm pretty disappointing he's back but to look at it from a different point of view;

Remember in 92-93 when Messier was considered washed up? He came back like a bat out of hell the next season.

If Richards commits to working out the right way, changing his diet, etc. he MIGHT be ok. Many players like Gary Roberts, Chris Chelios, Ron Francis, Igor Larionov, and even now Daniel Alfredson have been fine into their mid to late 30s by changing their training and diet.

With what cap room? The rangers would have to find a way to trade Powe, Pyatt, and Asham for picks....probably Del Zotto too. Then plug in rookies like Lindberg, Fasth, Thomas, Miller in the 3rd/4th lines. I just don't see it happening. Our biggest problem is and has been depth when it comes to even strength play. Of course our PP has been abysmal too but hopefully AV will be able to change that.

Powe has zero value unless they take back a large contract which is impossible.

Asham might fetch a sixth or seventh. Might. Ditto for Pyatt although he has played for AV before.

Staal has minimal value now.

The only two Rangers who aren't untouchable or have value is Boyle and Del Z. I wouldn't give up Del Z. Boyle, anything lower than a second and they break even.

Evidently they think they can get everyone signed this summer with his cap.

He'll most certainly be bought out next summer, however. Should give him a good incentive to play well.

or drive him to retire at 32 :sarcasm:

Brad Richards better start regenerating his lobster beaver powers. It would be amazing to have him back playing like the 1C that he has never been in NY :sarcasm:
