I’m guessing they as in ownership want him part of organization

I asked someone about this who’s got pretty good knowledge on this and they said Z loves his life and knows a GM is 24:7 365 job (one of your players gets in serious trouble and you are on vacation in Australia in late July you gotta drop everything and come home)

They doubt he’s interested as GM

Being a consultant is the dream job for many as long as checks don’t bounce
It's a pipe dream of mine.

I wonder how many players get in serious trouble and I am on vacation in Australia in late July and I gotta drop everything and come home 🏠?

I am shocked and chagrined by the variables.

They don't add up but then, as you reach *mid* July, somehow they do.

It's really a quandary for me.

And I'm not even a GM.

What, then, to do?

Does your pal have any advice about the variables?

The variables are the most important thing.

So cool that he a scored!

Price of a brick is going up...

This is how Sweeney and Marchy impress me to the max

Step 1: deal him to a contender
Step 2: resign him to a 1 year 4M deal with bonuses
Step 3: DEAL HIM AGAIN at the following deadline (if we miss again)
Step 4: resign him one last time!
Step 5: retires Bruin, HHOF
The Bruins would be brought up on charges. No way they could say that just happened and handshake deals weren't made.

The fact that he's putting up these numbers after major surgery and no camp is a testament to how hard he works and how he continues to reinvent himself.
This is 100% true & as I have said already ,the man is sure to be a Bruins Legend. But the question then is what is management's plan, because he is pushing towards 38 in August I do believe. This constantly adding fringe players will not fly anymore ,they need legit top end talent .The clock is ticking on Sweeney & Neely u ask me.

I think they will keep him. He's going to be 37 in May btw

Marchand probably my fav Bruin ever next to Taz or Bourque and if they keep him that's fine but it does not help fix this mess.Bruins do not have enough high end skill.
They don't, so it doesn't make sense to get rid of one of the highly skilled guys they do have. 36 or not, he's one you keep. I don't buy the "deadline loan" thing because it almost never happens. Bruins should extend him for 2 at a fair price and then go year to year if he still wants to keep playing. At 40, he'll almost certainly still be a good third liner if he stays healthy.

Well it makes sence if u admit u cannot fix this b4 he ages out.We will find out now what Sweeney is.Its about building a winner not chasing a couple playoff gates.Anyhow ,whatever they decide they decide, it's not a good team either way

He’s not back and they go with Providence guys I’m guessing the sell out streak is over

the Bruins healthy can win any game

They need a very modified retool

This bottom falling out is comical
It will definitely be interesting after the 4 nations. Hampus hopefully back, which will slot the Dmen back to where they should be. That should help stabilize it.

I still don't think they have the firepower upfront to win "any game."

I think Carlo makes a lot of sense as a guy you package to help that top 6 and is the one move i look to make before deadline. Love the guy, but he's falling off fast this year, and I don't want to wait until he has no value to other teams.

I don't think moving Brad needs to be part of any retool. I guess if there was an offer you couldn't refuse, well, you couldn't refuse lol. But no reason to move him if they are looking at a retool over the summer. Lots can be done without trading your captain.

Yea well depends what Sweeney's idea of a retool is. He has a habit of loading up on bottom 6 guys and D men.

So then how much are you willing to re-sign him for? And for how long? Worst possible outcome is that he goes for nothing in free agency over the summer…..and if he goes past this deadline with no extension signed, the Bruins have 0 leverage. Like they had with Swayman this past summer.

If Joe Pavelski can leave San Jose (who WAS a playoff team in his last season there) for more money and term. What makes you think Marchand won’t be tempted as well?

If he wants to leave, then he will. I am speaking only from the Bruins perspective and from what Brad himself has said. I'd be fine in or around $6m x2, or a1 year bonus-laden deal if he wants more than that. But you are right, at the end of the day, he hold the all the cards, because he will get signed somewhere if he wants to keep playing.

Im glad Brads having fun entertaining everyone, hopfully when he comes back he can focus on getting his team playing consistant hockey and stop taking dumb penilties.

Did he see the ice in ot?

Yeah, I think this is like worrying that a plane could fall on your house. Could it happen? Yes. Is it in any way realistic? No.

Marchand is not signing somewhere else in the off-season.

Raycroft said today that he expects a deal is close and that he could see Marchand saying take care of what you need to and we’ll work something out in the summer.

I'm not privy to any conversations between the team and Marchand, so if what you say is true, fine by me.

All I'm saying is that its a fireable offense if Marchand ends up moving on and we get nothing for him....or if we end up getting forced into a gross overpayment in order to save face.

Why would Marchand believe anything DS tells him regarding signing him in the offseason. Maybe A new GM wants nothing to do with Marchand.

DS should trade him, period. This team is not making the playoffs. Letting Marchand get to FA without getting a pick at least is so Don Sweeney.

Dont think for one second Marchand will not sign the best deal he gets from a team of his liking and who could blame him.

If they aren’t winning the Cup I want them out and picking 8-10

They probably get Carter Bear there which would be cool just for the name alone- if he can play a bonus ;)

But the guy who would be a home run is Center Caleb Desnoyers

He’s got a lot of the Barry Pederson/Jean Ratelle/ Patrice Bergeron skill/leadership

Getting him would be spectacular

Unfortunately he could go 3 -7
