I'm fine with it.
He owns this.
This entire fiasco is a **** show. Marchand shouldn't have done it, but he also shouldn't have gotten suspended based on other players in the league not being suspended for the same offense. Either way, it's over and he'll have to live with it and hopefully learn from it.
Is there any other kind?
Prust does the exact same thing to Marchand = $2500 fine
Crosby swings his stick at a opposing players hand hard enough to severe part of his finger and put that player out for weeks = Zippo
Marchand spears Dotchin, Dotchin sells it like a pro soccer player and doesn't even leave the game = 2 game suspension
The only silver lining here is Marchand won't miss any playoff games.
But like it or not, this just increased the chances of meeting the Caps in the 1st round with Boston's best offensive player on the sidelines the next 2 games.
It's not the punishment but the inconsistency that infuriates me.
How can Crosby have prior history when they keep looking the other way?
It's the inconsistency that kills me. Crosby does stupid **** all the time but never gets suspended or fined for it.
At least there aren't any missed playoff games.

Silver lining, Marchand gets 2 games to rest before the Playoffs.
What consequences? Marchand has been suspended for both slew footing and clipping, yet Subban and Crosby keep slewing left and right with no consequences, and Emelin and Ballard get to redefine a Marchand "clipping" as a good old fashioned "hip check". The DoPS seems quite comfortable in its hypocrisy.
Whether or not you agree with it, calm down everyone.
He gets to rest before the PO's. There is just no reason anyone should be overly upset about this.
Most predictable response ever. Thanks, though.
What I am saying is it does put a different pressure on the league for the future. You bring up past incidents. What I am saying is the suspension to Marchand NOW will be brought by absolutely EVERYONE when this happens with another player in the FUTURE. Now that something has happened, and a suspension has actually been given to someone, the league is under a different kind of pressure.
Oh, and as bad as some of Ballard's hip checks are, comparing them to what Marchand did to say Sedin or Salo (as much as I truly did enjoy both of those) shows a pretty strong bias. I have a hard time listening to people with intense biases criticize others for intense biases, but that's just me.
