Brad Marchand leading the B's in scoring! This is exactly what we needed from him. We needed a player to step up and he has done so big time!
It's also nice to see him vindicate that shiny new 8 year contract :D

This Claude/Marchy exchange on Behind the B was classic. (from memory)

Marchand (yelling at the ice): You are horrible! You are embarrassing!

Claude: Are you yelling at the refs!!??

Marchand: No.

Claude: Ok, keep yelling.

(later)

Claude: I thought you were yelling at the refs.

Marchand: No, I'd never do that.

love March. ...from the very start. This kid has some real talent. I recall on another forum about 2 yrs ago or so .fans wanted to trade him .The name that surfaced mostly was Evander Kane.I said you guys nuts. .Thank goodness Chiarelli never traded him. ..in the words of Jeff Gorton after he drafted Marchand"Watch this guy .he is my sleeper of this draft" and so was Gorton correct.[Edit]*[Reply]*[!!]

Flying under the radar for any blame.... marchand now has 3 goals and a total of 9 points in his last 17 games.

We need this guy to be better obviously.

I'd suggest it's not working with him and Bergeron and pastrnak. I vote keep him and Bergeron together but move pastrnak either with Krejci or Spooner

Heck maybe go backes Bergeron marchand
And then pastrnak Krejci spooner

But right now marchand hasn't been good and we've been blinded by that incredible first 4 games of the season

On pace to absolutely demolish his assist record for his career. His ability to not get knocked off the puck is exciting to watch.

I do think however that him becoming more of playmaker does hurt this team overall. There just aren't enough players with an ability to finish to not have Brad be a primary shooter. I put Pastrnak back with Krejci. Krejci is more than capable of setting Pasta up and it's not like Pastrnak couldn't fly the zone on that line anyways.

I would switch Bergy and Krech now. Krech is making good passes to 2 non scorers. Bergy is not much more then a checker with whatever injury he is playing with.

Maybe you see it differently, but what I've seen this year is teams really focusing a lot more on trying to shut Marchand down. He is a known quantity throughout the league. Watch how he gets double and triple teamed so many times. In fact, I'd even go so far as to say that has benefited Pasta in giving him more space. I'm interested to see what starts to happen now that Pasta should be recognized as a legitimate threat and not just a guy on a hot streak. Teams can't leave him alone and maybe that opens up more space for Marchand.

I see where you are going with that...

But IMO, you don't break up that line until they hit a drought. Currently one of the best lines in hockey. And I am one of those who believes Bergy is playing with an injury so that will impact both Marchand and Pasta. But they are still cruising.

Don't fix what isn't broken... At least on that line anyways.

That line is fine.

Marchy had a big smile on his face last night when Pasta scored his goals. It is nice to see he is happy for his line mate

No way. I don't do anything that could in any way cool Pasta off... What is he, 30% of our goals? The rest of the team will start scoring. No use making him stop while they're not.

69 points pace at 40% of the season done, leads the Bruins in points... You are right, let's waive this bum.

In his last 34 games 7 goals 15 assists 22 points

Unless you are counting on him having a couple more 5 point games we might have to account for some statistical abnormalities

The truth is marchand needs a hot streak to get back to a 20 goal pace and if pastrnak stops scoring then those assist totals will fall off too. Marchand isn't an elite playmaker

Of course some of marchands goal scoring slump can be blamed on bergeron

As I pointed out all off season marchand doesn't play well on pp... his game isn't well suited to setup offense. Rather he is more of an oppotunist. He's quick with a great shot. He pounces on the other teams mistakes

I do expect he will do better in second half but people who say he's doing great now are closing their eye to reality. 7 points in 34 games Is not why we are paying this guy 6 mill. He must be better

His center hasn't been good all year so far. No center has.

Good on Brad for not putting up with that disgusting crap.

There is a thread on the main board about this. Those poor Vancouver posters can never let it go that they lost to a better team in 2011 :laugh::laugh: They are bringing up that the twins were called "sisters" I have news for them...It wasn't just Brad who called the twins out...It was most of the NHL.

Good on Brad for responding to that ass on Twitter.

They've been called that for as long as I can remember, maybe as early as their rookie years, well before the 2011 Cup finals for sure. What a thing to be still banging on about

On the Marchand front, he just seems off to me last 10-12 games or so. He isn't stickhandling as clean as he normally does and his shot has been off. Maybe it's just streakiness, the yips or something. Hope he gets going properly again (because he isn't doing that bad, just not at the level we expect and need him at).
