I remember that post  I'd absolutely count on that starting the whole row....

I never did get what people saw in Patches. When he's not producing points, what does he do exactly? Seems like every time I see him, he's just floating around. Maybe it's just me, I don't know....

Thats fine haha its fine im fine  :sarcasm: Its true though, if The Chin isnt scoring goals, he is absolutely useless on the ice. Isnt physical, isnt great defensively, doesnt excel in any area other than shooting. Marchand sets the table, kills penalties, lays the body, pests.

Perhaps the rest of the league's fans will finally let go of their emotion based hatred of Brad Marchand and realize he's an incredibly talented player.

Even before he was putting up points, I was telling people on this board that he is the last guy you want traded. Other than size (and he plays far bigger than his size), there is absolutely NOTHING that the guy does not do.

Works hard, skates well, good puck handler, *usually* good decision maker, good shooter, plays defense, good locker room guy, gets under the opponents' skin, is committed to staying with Boston...

Did I miss anything?

Despite the rumors, Marchand has never been shopped. Chia was a big believer in him and even told Marchand numerous times to not believe the rumors.

I remember a couple of years ago at the start of the season some of the press were interviewing Brad and they asked him about the rumors of him being shopped....Brad said he knew he wasn't and he "heard" that some of them were going to be fired

It's possible Brad is one of the most in his own head players of our time. When he's down on himself, his game is ruined. But when he's confident? My goodness. Keep him confident!

I expected Toronto to be all over him. He needs to learn to adapt. I am sure Bergy will also help out with creating more space.

Managing a point without his key partner when a team does their all to shut him down has to be considered a success. The other lines (*cough* Krejci *cough*) have to capitalise on weaker matchups.

Was I pre-mature in calling him a superstar?

Points in all 4. Sure, he hasn't been as explosive as opening night, but he is still so ****ing good.

Should we update the title?

Brad Marchand appears to be in the midst of his prime.

As you look atop the league leaderboard for points today, you'll see an interesting name at No. 1. With seven points through his first three games this season, Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has an early lead in the NHL scoring race. He is unlikely to remain there all season and there's little to conclude from three games, but his hot start -- which includes a five-point game in Boston's season opener -- is a continuation of the upswing he is experiencing in his career presently.

The first thing most people will think of when they think of Marchand is his reputation as a pest, or some might refer to him as a rat. Even the President of the United States once called him the "Little Ball of Hate." By the way, that was Pat Verbeek, Mr. President, but we understand why you'd call Marchand that. It is a reputation well earned.

Over seven, going on eight seasons in the NHL, Marchand has picked up 438 penalty minutes. He has been suspended four times for a total of 12 games and fined twice - once for a sucker punch and another time for a slew-foot. He is also often on the receiving end of an opponent's ill intent, drawing penalties, suspensions and fines from them on more than a few occasions.

Just last season, Marchand was speared by then Vancouver Canucks tough guy Brandon Prust, who said the $5,000 fine he had to pay was the best money he'd ever spent.

It is because of that reputation, that it has been difficult for many to come to a full appreciation for Marchand's overall game. What is lost in the penalties, suspensions, smack talk and everything else is that he is a highly-skilled individual who has probably always been capable of more than he's produced in his career. Now he's doing both.

Doesn't seem that coach clode gets any credit for Marchand's ascent to stardom.

He's stuck with him through the tough times and I'd say Julien is most likely the reason Brad got a shot at Team Canada.

Consistent 30 goal scorers (4 of last 5 years) in the NHL aren't exactly plentiful these days.

Julien is a great coach. I am sure Brad knows all of this and is thankful. Brad is an excellent player. I am thrilled he will be on the B's for years.
