There is no rush to have him signed. Unless he really impresses, he's going to go to the WHL anyways. That doesn't require an SPC, and the Jets have 4 years to sign him to one.

There is absolutely no rush to sign him and he should prove worthy before signing him, IMO.

Hopefully he’s worth signing.

No. The 2 years is only if they're drafted out of the CHL. Players drafted internationally and NCAA players are 4 years.

I wonder if they're going to stick him in the A? I wouldn't be against that.

I think he might be better served there than in the WHL. He's played against men for a while now and the speed and size (and aggression) of players in the A is going to test him more than his likely domination in the CHL. He isn't big but he isn't tiny, should be able to handle the physical side as he gets up to speed.

If he's ready then have him there. I want him in the best spot for his offensive confidence.

I think training camp will suss out where Lambert will best suited playing. If he looks OK with the big boys but just isn't processing the game fast enough, he belongs in the A. If he's just physically overmatched (less likely because he's been playing vs men for a while), then it's the W.

I'm encouraged by everything I've heard about Lambert since the draft. I didn't like the pick at the time, based on red flags, attitude rumours, dad issues, poor performance in Liiga. But all now appear to either have been unfounded or overstated.

It is still way too early to say anything for certain, but he looks like he could be the steal of the draft.

I don't know where would be the best place for him to play this year but coaching with the Moose would be aimed at developing him, not just getting the most production. That kind of coaching may be what he needs more than anything else at this point.

There is a better chance that Lambert plays in the CHL than on the Jets 1st line.

Nothing like taking smallest of sample sizes and going over board.

Just like the WJC was too small a sample to negatively evaluate Lambert, this was even shorter.

A guy that is healthy scratched on the Finnish WJ team is not playing on the Jets first line this year lol

He has a lot to learn about team hockey both in the offensive and defensive end.

He has the physical skills but it takes a lot more than that to make the NhL

My comparable is still Kaspari Kapanen

r you still thinking this way ...
After the Young Stars Tournament? YES!!

He looked good, but this tournament has predicted pretty much nothing when it comes to regular NHL seasons.

Starts in the AHL is my best guess and maybe he gets a call up during the season should things go bad. Rather that than playing Jr. or back in Europe.

Still have concerns on whether he is committed to us, would like to see that contract signed.

He could get a look at the start with a good TC and an injury. Who knows how Bowness wants to deploy the lines. We'll see how TC goes.

No one thought Heinola had a chance in hell of getting a game at 18.

Obviously the look will be at 1C and nowhere else

It really wasnt. He played poorly and his dad was really getting into his developement too much. He also switched teams every year. It probably was also about the play in the Finnish league, where every player is supposed to backcheck and theese "slow attacks", every team uses. In NA the game is faster and more North-South based, which could suit him better. The talent was always there - the effort and máturity not so much.
