Floyds "last fight" happens in under 10 days. And there is minimal interest and chatter about it.
I hope it doesn't even manage 500k buys and floyd is embarrassed for forcing it onto PPV.
Its his own fault. If he announced this **** fight more than 6 weeks before it was happening, he could've given CBS advertisers time to sell. He waited, because everything is on his time, and now hes stuck with a **** fight on PPV.
Ill be spending my money on GGG/Lemieux and Cotto/Canelo. I probably won't even watch this one, its not like Floyd's fights are exciting anyway. I've been paying in years past in the hopes I'd get to see him on queer street one day.
Yup. No more of my money will be spent on Floyd. Unless he is fighting Golovkin.
I can't think of any conceivable scenario where this happens.
Think Floyd fights Pacquiao or Cotto (provided he gets past Canelo, and what would be for the fakest middleweight title ever)
GGG beats Lemieux.
Canelo beats Cotto.
Ggg beats Canelo on cinco de mayo.
Fans demand GGG vs floyd. Money is there. Floyd makes a mistake.
That puts the fight a year from now.
Floyd is going to be inactive for a year just to come back to fight the most dangerous man in the sport? Don't think so.
3 days until a Mayweather fight and its awfully quiet out there. More than 2,000 seats available at the MGM grand, virtually no media buzz, and an overmatched opponent that has to such luminaries as Robert Guerrero, Victor Ortiz, and Jesus Soto-Karass. This fight will be lucky to do 500K PPV buys.
Theres no way on earth Mayweather goes out with such a wimper. Not on the cusp of 50-0, not with his Showtime deal expiring. If I had to guess, I'd say Mayweather goes to network television/the PBC for his final fight after this one, against an opponent that will draw more interest than Berto but not pose any significant danger to his undefeated record (so no GGG, Brook, Thurman, Khan, etc).
I think that's tough for him.
If Golovkin wins. And Canelo wins. And the two fight for the 160 belt in May, that fight would warrant so much attention and hype, that the winner will likely be dubbed the next PFP champ. Currently that's Floyd.
The only fight available after that for Floyd to make a SERIOUS payday and exit is the winner of that fight. And the winner of that fight will have better leverage of the weight they meet at. So floyd will have to come up to 156 or 158.
The other guys will produce a similar result for Floyd. No one cares. And I think he'll realize that after his fight Saturday.
I think he'd listen to the winner of Canelo/Cotto since he schooled both of them already. Maybe he moves up a little bit and fights for a fake middleweight title (Cotto and Canelo are already fighting at 155).
Theres no way on earth he touches Golovkin with a 10 foot pool. Too strong, too risky.
Might as well stay retired it Golovkin wins his next two fights (taking for granted Golovkin fights Canelo adter SL).
Why? A natural welterweight isn't going to get chastised for not fighting a natural middleweight. This isn't the 1950's.
So how bad were Floyd's PPV #'s last night?
I streamed it. I wasnt paying for that. It wound up being exactly like you'd think it'd be. Easy work for Floyd
Lol. Andre Ward. Accuses GGG of ducking him. Stirs the pot by calling him Little G. Then gets exposed for lying as GGGs promoter produces the emails that came days after the announcement that GGG would fight Lemieux, with an offer for 50-50 in late October.
lol.
Latest reports have Mayweather vs. Berto PPV buys at around 400K. Thats dreadful.
GGG has a chance to exceed those #'s.
