I’m still in a state of pleasantly stunned disbelief that we didn’t send *anything* else back. Like how did Chicago not even get a draft pick out of this?

Also big ups to Jarmo for pulling the “call the bad/overwhelmed GM” card, having the cojones to ask for the moon, and the poise to not bust out laughing as Davidson willingly gave all these assets up if they worked this out over the phone

There's absolutely no way he is getting that, and if he was- the return would be insane because Chicago clearly overvalues him.

I'm excited and nervous. Should be interesting. Im thinking a futures based deal. More assets to add some depth.
Given the return, 12.5M per year seems more than likely at this point.

This is absolutely a steal. Mittelstadt turned into one of these two guys.

Bjorck will be in the NHL next year.

I think Malhotra will be gone by Vancouver but I could be wrong.
Yeah, we are all pleased with the return but you guys are getting a very good player in Byram and a decent player in Greenway.
I appreciate the sentiment, but Byram was on the trading block for two years and its hard to swallow this level of overpayment. Anything short of playoffs and top 5 Norris voting (because Hawks will pay 12 mil for him now) for him will be a dissapointment.

Davidson was the guy that use to pick up players from the airport. That was his strong suit and probably still is.

Boy it's gonna be a tough sleep today, but the flash thought is 4OA is not something the Sabres are moving with the draft being held where it is this year, but if they do it's going to be at the draft and it's going to be a monster.

If they do trade #4 it won't be until draft day where they can announce the trade on stage

So can some martinis and a decent dinner.

Funny that I'm about half a mile from where he went to HS.

Went from the draft day being a bit boring for the hosts to being right at the top of the order AND getting back into the 2nd round... tidy work if they keep them all for sure.

It feels like between Chicago talking moving up with San Jose from 4 to 2 and not getting anywhere and San Jose locking in on Stenberg and moving Eklund for 9…we totally benefited from sticking our nose into their back and forth.

Chicago knew they couldn’t get Stenberg…and now knew that they were competing for Byram.

Thanks San Jose!

I like Bjorck more than Stenberg. If he's gone, there is also Malhotra.

Or they throw this coup away at an old goalie.
Leafs taking Mckenna is a lock.
Sharks taking Stenberg is also a lock.
Canucks taking Malhotra is practically a lock. (I do not see any universe where Manny doesn't draft his son, especially when he is consensus #1 or #2 center)
Sabres take Bjorck.

That would work for me. Still feel bad for Malhotra also having to deal with his dad being HC in Vancouver though.
