You don't trade franchise D-men like Bouchard. Full stop.

Also it should be common knowledge to any Oiler fan at this point, that Bouchard gets progressively better as the year progresses. Unless we are getting a franchise caliber RHD back, it's not even worth wasting a second of thought on whether or not the trade is worth it.

Maybe I just don’t live in your fantasy land where a 0.5PPG defenceman with worse analytics is better than a 1PPG defenceman with better analytics.
Bouchard has 15 points in 22 games
Sanderson 14 points in 21 games
Looks similar

Do you?

And once again, for the record, it should be noted that you think Bouchard is a better defender than Sanderson. Just for the lols sake.
He’s a better defenceman than Sanderson. Doubles his production. Plays top pair, one half of one of the best top pairs in the League. 5th in Norris Voting. GENERATIONAL playoff production.

I noticed Sanderson in the recent Oilers-Sens tilt. He’s a fine player. He’s not even close to Bouch at this point.

Small sample. Why don’t you look at the entirety of last year. The oilers have been snakebitten in the scoring dept to start this year, it’s affected McD and Drai. Won’t be the same story when this season finishes out.

You live in a fantasy world if you think Bouchard is anywhere near Sanderson defensively.
Have you ever heard the expression the best defense is a good offense? Bouchard is the epitome of an ice-tilter. Is he the best defensive player in the defensive zone? No, not at all, but he has a good breakout pass and he dominates the neutral zone and the offensive zone in a way that naturally leads to a lot of puck possession when he is out there.

Right. He's not as good as Sanderson defensively and it's really not close. It's cool that when he gets the puck he does fancy things with it, but that really wasn't the initial debate.

You need to watch more of him instead of coming out guns blazing trumpeting the laurels of a D-man when you don't know anything about the other D-man.

And...now who's using anecdotes?

Why? My assessment is correct. Bouchard>Sanderson. Easy.

It isn't about him doing fancy things, it's practical things, like well timed o-zone pinches, good pass selection, good gap control in the neutral zone, and a great pokecheck.

Puck possession is the highest form of defense cause you can't get scored on when the puck is on your stick or 100+ ft from your net.

Pretty sure the debate was who’s the better defenceman. That was kicked off by my statement, Bouch is the better defenceman.
This was my favourite. Maybe I just don’t live in your fantasy land where a 0.5PPG defenceman with worse analytics is better than a 1PPG defenceman with better analytics.
