Here's a good rule of thumb to go with on proposals: the asset count ratio between teams should pretty much always be within 2:1 at the utmost, barring extreme circumstances (and it's almost never extreme circumstances). And for that matter, avoid going over five total assets exchanged.
cap does not facilitate that ^ here
one team would have huge cap hit that way in this instance

btw, any arbitrary factors aside, what did you think about the value?

Other than McAvoy and Pastrnak which will cost an arm and a leg and practically impossible to pull during the season, the rest of the players have little to no value lol.
Nucks fan still hurting from the cup loss lol

Bruins let UFAs walk for nothing and replaced them with high cost UFAs (Lindhom and Zadorov) That’s the path to getting older and it usually doesn’t work. Would teams want those two guys with their current contracts now?
They replaced ufa’s with ufa’s and you talk about how that makes a team older. Good lord. They have a prospect depth issue from being good for so long and it’s finally caught up with them.

...which means, therefore, that there is no trade to be made because you do not have the correct assets.

Those factors render it meaningless.
yeah no
either Bs should keep McAvoy
or deal if there is enuf'
and w/multiple suitors, all w/dif options on what each can make available, it is for beantown to then decide which offer is best

I provided sufficient correct assets
if you disagree, feel free to debate
whether or not that is best offer
or part of accepting my offer is something bruins can make fit remains to be seen

Rephrase: no trade to be had with the New York Rangers, presuming that what you're offering is their most realistic possible approach.
I provided sufficient correct assets
No, you didn't. You split the value in the deal across too many distinct assets that therefore cannot be adequately made useful.

If my wallet has no space for coins and I ask for a dollar and you give me five quarters, I am not served, because I have no way of keeping those five quarters such that I will get value out of them. Similarly, if I'm going to a laundromat and I need $4 in quarters to start the machines, handing me a five-dollar bill doesn't actually let me do the laundry. And even those analogies are cripplingly flawed in this discussion because they presume fungibility of monetary value, which is true of currency but absolutely not true of NHL players and picks - there is no way to take that metaphorical $5 to the laundromat and exchange it for the equivalent 20 metaphorical quarters, because in the NHL assets trading world, every single exchange is a protracted needs-based negotiation. To torture the analogy further, my need for quarters without having any would mean that my five dollar bill might only get me 8 quarters ($2) because quarters are in demand for exactly the same reasons why I want 'em - other people also want to do their laundry.

To :hawks
C Charlie Coyle (1 x $5.25M)

To :bruins
LD Taige Harding (Rights)
RD Connor Kelley (Rights)
Hawks 2025 4th round pick

- B's clear salary out and recoup 2025 4th (They currently dont have one) while getting two prospect Hawks are unlikely to sign (We have glut of D prospects in pipeline) and B's could consider if they want to sign them (Both currently playing at Providence College)

- Hawks get a top 9 vet C who can win faceoffs and since Hawks appear to want to keep Nazar in AHL most of year and have need for help at C a vet like Coyle should be good for them for rest of year and next year (When Nazar should be regular from start)

Sorta of a redux of Taylor Hall trade (B's get cap room and some prospects) while Hawks get vet NHL'er

Not bad, but I think Coyle would cost more than your offer.

Shoulda got one game in
I would think Buffalo could back a wagon of prospects and picks up to the Bruins door if that's what the B's were looking for. I know the rumbling is that Adams wants a forward, but it would be kinda hard to ignore Brandon Carlo on that list and not think he'd be an excellent pick up.

Let’s find a way to get both Carlo and Peeke.

I'd welcome Zacha back for a bottom six role only if it cost us next to nothing to do. We got Shane Bowers and Justin Dowling out there and as inconsistent as Zacha is he's definitely better than those living, breathihg, cardboard cutouts.

oh god. here we go again with " fire sale" in retail fire sale means 70-90 % off because items have small damage due to fire. so here we go if anybody offers 70-90% of the original value for a player sellers just laugh and laugh and then disrespects all offers as insane and offers from total assssshooooles. There is NO FIRE SALE EVER. Nobody is willing to sell for less EVER.

The first step in a team that was neck and neck with the Rangers last year and has struggled out of the gate this year to fix itself is not to trade out their 26 year old #1D RD. Certainly not for a hodge podge of pieces and cap dumps. A young legit #1C? Sure that's worth discussing. Rangers don't have one of those.

fine if you want a high end piece for a high end piece

but that does not mean my offer was insufficient esp if high end for high end [possible coke for pepsi] is not forthcoming

characterization of "not for a hodge podge of pieces" is not accurate/fair.
"cap dumps" fair, but that is nec for cap balance

consider:
Othmann was a mid 1st selection
Emery is very highly regarded
while late, a 1st is a 1st

I'm not saying it is lights out top offer I expect you to get increased bid, but it is not chopped liver either
