I don't know what the Oilers have to trade for McAvoy, but boy o' boy would I like to see him in an Oilers jersey.

The idea of a fire sale would be to hit the reset button and recoup futures for current players. 2 non-pro prospects that will likely be available for free 7/1/2025 and a 4th round pick..... There would be teams lining up for Coyle if that's all he cost.
Hall trade is in no way comparable to what the OP is discussing here. Hall was traded because Boston HAD to dump cap due to the bonus overages for the Bergeron and Krejci contracts.

I don't think Boston is looking to add a goaltender when they have Swayman signed for 4 more years, and for a lot less $$$ than what Shesterkin is looking for. If a goalie is going to the highest bidder, wouldn't it be on the Rangers to try and make that deal?
I don't mean to speak for Bruins fans but I think that is a logical way to look at it.
