I don't have a preference for either TB or Boston since both team will be tough to play and we're going to be solid underdogs in either matchup. That said it might benefit us in the long haul to go through tampa (who is the better team between them and boston) and the boys can learn a ton from facing the big dogs of hockey. The flip side of the matchup is that New Jersey is a very fast team and fast teams always give Boston fits and that series shouldn't be a cakewalk for them.

I think we have a better chance against Boston but I really don't want to hear about the last playoff series against them over and over again.

I’m in the same boat. Don’t really have a preference. Our record against Boston is better but the way games have been officiated lately, Boston will have the green light to take the series into the gutter with impunity. “Heavy Team” and all that nonsense.

keeping emotions aside (which is hard; given what happened recently on the leafs forum); lets talk about hockey Logic

I want Bruins; not only to:
  • exercise Game 7 demons or;
  • beat the snout out of marchand and make chara look like an ogre (more than he already is)
  • make every bruin fan cry like a child

BUT logically because:
  • I think we match up well against the bruins
  • Freddie has better record against them
  • bruins have some old legs on that team; while we are built for speed
  • Lou acquired Plek specifically targeting boston (go watch Lou's trade deadline video)
  • marchand hates playing against plek
  • also some of the bruins' players will be first time playoff entrants; while all the leafs have had at least one playoff series under their belt
  • I am sincerely hoping the players that played in the Game 7 against bruins are going to up the intensity level that much more -> Kadri, JVR, Bozak, Gardiner, Komarov

Come hockey gods - its time you favour the Leafs

I'm actually excited about how we match up against both teams, so I really don't have a preference anymore.

Tampa is fast and skilled but so are we. I think the better goaltender wins in that series and I see more of a shoot-out.

Boston will be tight checking and could get dirty. That's not the type of game we excel at, but I also think Boston gets in penalty trouble and we make them pay on the PP. Kadri will have to step up specifically if we're going to beat Boston.

In either series, I see the Leafs winning in seven.

I've got that Gardiner troll face pic ready for posting the minute the Bruins lose tonight.*

Leafs fans seem pretty split about who they want to face. Not everyone wants to face the Bruins. Whatever happens tonight happens.

Our playoff victories over the Sens say take the cold goalie. We won series against their cold goalies we had no business winning. Remember Nieuwendys "snipes"?

Tampa has to be preference. Anyone saying they don't care is lying. Deep down they want tampa.

lalime wasn't cold. what are you talking about.

I’m more interested in just finding out which it will be. There are pros and cons to both matchups. Both are winnable and we may just have to go through both anyways.
