LMAO at TSN. I'm reading their story on the signing and I'm thinking that the price seems a bit high even if he is a good puck mover. Then TSN says this:

"Krug appeared in all 81 games for the Bruins this past season, scoring four goals and four assists."

Then I'm thinking that Boston has entirely lost their minds before I look up his stats on the year and see the mistake.

Sigh

I usually ignore you, but this annoys the crap out of me.

Over the past three seasons, at even strength, Krug is 21st amongst all NHL D in 5 on 5 points. Thats Yandle, Hamilton, Leddy territory.

This past season, his first playing true top 4 minutes, Krug equaled or was better than Yandle, Barrie, Hamilton, Leddy, Reilly, Keith, Doughty in 5 on 5 points.

He scored 50% more 5 on 5 points than Vatanen.

PP specialist my ass.

Too much inconvenient truth in this post. No wonder it's been ignored.

Surprised he didn't have a few more goals last year. He has a great shot right? I guess Z takes away some of those?

No, Z's shot is awful.

The reason Krug didn't score is because he was snake bit. He couldn't hit the net for most of the year. If he can improve on just that alone, he'll be worth the money.

The jury is still out. If he never improves, he isn't worth it.

Krug is a real feel good story. How he was never drafted and still managed to have a very above average career for a d man of his size.

Snake bit maybe a tiny portion but shoulder surgery would explain that. Guy took a lot of heat from Bruin fans because he is not 6'4" and does not beat ppl into a pulp. He was the only guy that would skate it out with purpose. He was very dependable and has a warrior spirit about him its the size of his heart that matters. Going wear a letter in 4 -7 few years as a leader.

I'm not going to go look up the stats again, but his rate of missing the net on shots was the same as his career average and was totally average for a guy with his amount of shot attempts. You are just making stuff up here.

considering one of those 3 years, Vatanen only played half the year in the NHL, that is a bit misleading... Vatanen even strenght p/60 is .96, Krug is .98, not much difference there.

I am alright with the deal, absolutely love Krug. He is a competitor, skilled D, can be clutch, raises intensity in big games, a real warrior. Would be happy to see him wearing an 'A' in the future.

Not gonna be too concerned about the slight over-payment...especially after he has taken some pretty solid deals when the bruins were up against the cap.

Now Mcquaid and K.Miller...those are the deals to really complain about....not the .50-.75M too much for Krug.

It's a deal the Bruins absolutely had to make. Krug has not been in the league all that long and is still improving defensively. He had a career high in points this past season while not playing at a 100% and with an abysmally low shot pct compared to his previous years. If he stays healthy he will put up 50+ points this coming season.
