Duck fans. We're idiots for not signing him that extension. I understand not wanting to go term, but that's the cost of doing business in this CBA, and Lindholm is not the guy you hold the line for.
I agree. Lindholm might not have the golden rep that he did a few years ago(due to injuries), but he is still very good, and can help anchor a D corp. I think he's a perfect fit in Boston. He wouldn't fit here in Minnesota...he and Brodin would be too much defensive Swedish awesomeness.

As of now, BOS won the TDL.

One thing that's been overlooked is Hampus injury history is a plus in the league now. He gets hurt in game 12, then is ready to go in the playoffs along with another $8M player acquired at the deadline. Tampus Vegholm.

Not at all. Anaheim still has Maxime Comtois and Rakell to trade this deadline. Looking at what Giroux got? Rakell will get a package like that. And I imagine Anaheim will get a 2nd/3rd for Comtois. Anaheim will have a crap ton of picks and the most cap space in the NHL this summer.

How’s this bad for Anaheim? Anaheim fans are sitting back with a Cigar right now chilling till the summer
Rakell won’t bring near as much as Giroux c’mon

He’s the best forward available this deadline now that Giroux is gone. I seriously think your high if you think he’s being traded for peanuts

Peanuts? Not at all, however having made it know he is a rental with no chance of signing an extension will have GMs hesitating at the cost. If he had been willing to extend, he'd be a Bruin I bet.

I don't understand why Lindholm would sign with Boston for 8 years.

Their window is closing quickly as the F-group is very mediocre aside from the top-3, of which the most important (C/Bergeron) is nearing the other side of the infamous hill.

And 6,5 for a Dman of Lindholm's calibre is laughable, when looking at a lot of other defencemen in the same tier.

I mean, NURSE got 9.5 or something ridiculous like that?

Lindholm 28
Grzelcyk 28
Carlo 25
McAvoy 24

Swayman 23.

That’s as set as you’d want it to be.

Now the forward group will need a rebuild/retool but atleast there’s Pasta& Lysell already so the cup board isn’t completely empty

I keep seeing he's old or past his prime 😂. I mean some guys don't get up to speed in this league sometimes til 23/24 and you're past your Prime at 28? Haters are really reaching on this one

Especially when it’s a stay at home D-men. Outside a goalie that’s about the safest bet for a player to age well. These boards sometimes

Agreed. Boston did so good with this trade/deal. You have him for the rest of his prime years.

I could see Lindholm not aging well. He has been hampered by random injuries the last few years and his foot speed has declined since he first came in the league.

Paying a defensive defensemen until age 36 could be rough in the last couple years.

Having said that, I wish the Ducks could have kept him.

I think Boston cheats a bit with these things. I think their players get a lot of side money from sponsors like dunkin donuts. The sponsors probably make up for the discounted contracts they keep signing star players at.
I think the appeal is the culture; if you’re young you’re a hero in a huge college city around guys like Bergeron who set a tone that you can buy into.

Your also in a beautiful sports city but not the top dogs as far as pressure and expectations. You get the hockey city life without the Canadian hockey pressure.

This was an impressive trade and signing by the Bruins. Lindholm is a heck of a D man, IMO in the caliber of Pelech and Slavin. None will knock your socks off in points, But as a true all around, rock solid # 1 pairing D men. They are super valuable to teams. Just a heck of a job by Boston to get him, and then lock him up by not disrupting their own internal cap structure for only 6.5 per.

I called it. Bruins got him and he's going to fit well with McAvoy. Basically gave him the Brodin contract with a little inflation? Much better value than what the Oilers paid for Nurse IMO.

For what its worth there has been a chunk of anaheim fan base who feels he is old broken down and overated, and then a larger majority who feel he was our best player, most consistent, hard working player.. and that the injury stuff wasnt a big issues.

The fans that arnt as high on him def felt worse when the contract was 6.5, Either way id say 95% of our fanbase was cool with lindholm at anything under 7.5, so 6.5 is a pretty swede deal.
