Yeah I wonder what those conversations are?

"Hey Tony Do you think we should call your massive one-timer "The Capitol Stormer?" Or maybe we could name your next Subway sandwich that. "
IDK man. I think Rod is the mentor he maybe never had through any coaches on any of the teams he has been assigned to. I say assigned to, because coming to CAR was likely his choice. And since the draft he's been traded around, and passed around. We all know it wasn't the only offer on the table. In all seriousness, the TDA we see today is probably in no small part to RBA's coaching and mentoring. We have heard that repeatedly this season. Tony clearly has a massive amount of respect for him.

okay so how long does Abby have push this crowd thing every game? I know it probably isnt her but who keeps pushing this button?
I'm with you on this - it's obviously an edict from the top, and possibly written into each employees contract to mention it each time they open their mouth. It's fine to pump up the fans, esp after the shots the fanbase has taken over the (drought) years, but it's been so relentless it's gotten to the point of being trite/patronizing and even cringe for me. There's more to being a good fanbase than how loud you yell while fake dB 's flash on the jumbo and the PA is turned up to jet aircraft mode.

My god, the main board GDT is just page after page of complaining about every single call by the refs. I mean there is a run of literally like 5 pages where nearly every post is ref related.
I was enjoying the complaints about the Slavin hit on Lazar calling for interference after they got McAvoy for it.

I’m like guys, you can hit someone who just played the puck you know.

Wow. Great game. Canes played on fire most of the night. It was like game 1, but better. Boston looked better for the first 5 minutes, and that was all she wrote basically. All Canes from that point on. Raanta played really well, but he was hardly ever tested with grade A opportunities. Most of the shots on him were uncontested shots from the point. At one point he did make an excellent save in the middle of the game after 5 or 10 minutes of nothing, and this was impressive since I know that's hard on a goalie.

Svech had the energy and fire, but his timing looked off most of the game.

I have saved this for a full post, but I am flabbergasted at the Boston fans on their forum and the main thread that they consider that they were jobbed by the refs. I am incredulous. How could you possibly watch this game and come to this conclusion? The penalties against Boston were all clear. Don't high stick. Don't interfere. Textbook stuff. Furthermore, our penalties were also penalties, but were soft by comparison, particularly Niederreiter's slash. We had two more power plays than they did, and we scored 4 more goals then them. In what world did the refs give them the game?

And this is on top of the NN's goal being overturned in game 1, and their goalie interference goal that was very similar not being overturned last game. Like how on Earth could a human being come to the conclusion that the refs are in favor of the Canes? Just shaking my head.

I think Swayman was pretty good last night. I believe he made 5 saves off of his mask. We had so many grade A chances in the crease and trying to pounce on rebounds. We are clearly the better team 5 on 5 in this series, and it is clear the only way Boston has been better than us is on special teams.

And the McAvoy interference was frigging textbook. Aho had a jump on McAvoy to reach a loose puck in the neutral zone, McAvoy changes the path of his skating away from going after the puck in order to block off Aho's path to the puck and initiates the contact with him. It was incredibly clear on the broadcast and the announcers even explained it well enough that any 5 year old could easily understand with and agree with the call. It wasn't remotely subtle either.

I'm not surprised by Boston fans. They're so accustomed to getting every benefit of the doubt that the refs calling the game fair for them now feels like an injustice.

Wasn't it just last game many here were complaining about the officiating? Even though most of those penalties were also blatantly obvious calls? Glass houses and all that.

So did you take the ticket?

To be fair, its more understandable on our behalf when even TSN is putting out national articles calling out the reffing discrepancy we seem to consistently see, always to our negative

Funny story actually. My STH friend who brought me to games 3 and 4 and invited me for Thursday reached out to his account rep about the behavior of fans around us at game 4. I was a bit annoyed by it but I personally wouldn't have and didn't plan on complaining to anyone. I've been to worse environments, New Orleans Saints playoff game vs the Panthers a few years back takes the cake, was lucky to get out of there in one piece.

But there was also a fight in our section about 7-10 rows back (between Bruins fans including what looked like a 15 year old kid) and some other shit going on so my friend decided to mention it to his account rep. Was a really weird environment being an afternoon game on Mother's day. It was like 50% families with younger kids celebrating and 50% belligerent drunk losers, at least it seemed that way. I was sitting next to a couple young kids so actually made it a point to be on my best behavior, no swearing, etc. I stood and cheered/clapped when we scored and that's about it. Got a partial beer dumped on me from the guys behind me who were also being jackasses and swearing, etc. all game despite the kids around them. I'd kind of understand if it was like college aged kids but these were just some middle aged losers.

Anyways, seems we may be getting an upgrade to a suite hosting some corporate sponsors, in which case I'll probably go as I won't have to deal with jackassery around me, also free food and drinks. Not 100% sure on that yet though.
