8 years is CRAZY. What if he declines majorly in 3 years? With his style of play that is very possible. That could look like a brutal contract in 4 years.

Big slow players tend to hit a wall early, say around 32-33. Small fast players tend to remain highly effective to around 36 (St. Louis, Datsyuk, etc.).
Just a general observation, of course there are exceptions to both.
