Yeah, but if he has a repeat of last years performance he will have left money on the UFA table. A little lower cap hit for a couple years on the deal. Seems fair to me.

Plus we all know that teams LTIR bad contracts sometimes.

Big slow players tend to hit a wall early, say around 32-33. Small fast players tend to remain highly effective to around 36 (St. Louis, Datsyuk, etc.).

Just a general observation, of course there are exceptions to both.
