Just watched an interview with Bourla (Pfizer's CEO) on Squwak Box.
Pfizer CEO Bourla: Omicron-specific Covid vaccine will be ready by March (cnbc.com)
It is quite interesting. They will be manufacturing an omicron specific booster which will be ready if needed in March. He was less sure that 4th shoots would be necessary than Bancel, but suggested the goal would be to regain high efficacy vs infection. They have also signed an agreement with a company that would allow them to cut the time needed to retool the virus from 3 months to 2 to address future variants should they arrive.
Bourla also reiterated that the issue with vaccinating the world is not supply but a combination of delivery infrastructure and higher vaccine hesitancy in some of the poorer countries around the world.
Bancel was on earlier:
Moderna CEO Bancel: Future Covid vaccine booster will likely target omicron variant (cnbc.com)
He was happy with the efficacy of the booster. They will have an omicron specific vaccine in clinical trials very soon but like Bourla he said they are talking to people around the world about a multi-valiant booster for the fall of 2022.
For anyone interested in the most up to date info on vaccines and treatments I highly recommend Squawk Box and Squawk on the Street. They have Gottlieb on about 3 or four times a week as well as the CEO's of the major players whenever something significant is up.
