Booster thread part 2 Attack of the Omicron

In 2025 people can't go to the restaurants unless they had their 16th dose.

And? What's your point?

Vaccine protection has fallen to 14.9 per cent — from nearly 90 per cent a month ago — for people who have received two doses, according to the data.
"Vaccine protection against infection is melting like snow under the sun," Jüni said in an interview on CBC News Network. "Omicron is evading the immune system.
"In reality, there is no way — if it comes to infection — to distinguish anymore between a person who is not vaccinated and a person who has received two doses.

Wait... what?

From CNN;

"A leading expert who helped create the Oxford AstroZeneca Covid-9 vaccine said Tuesday that giving everyone in the world booster shots multiple times a year is not feasible... "'We can't vaccinate the planet every 4 to 6 months. It's not sustainable or affordable...'"

"Professor Andrew Pollard, the director of the Oxford Vaccine Group and head of the UK's committee on Vaccination and Immunization, told the Daily Telegraph in an interview... Pollard also stressed the 'need to target the vulnerable' rather than administering doses to everyone age 12 and older. More data is needed to ascertain 'whether, when and how often those who are vulnerable will need additional doses,' he said."

Isabel Kershner from the New York Times, December 23, 2021;

" ... Some scientists warned.." [the Israeli government re: a 4th shot / 2nd booster shot] " '...too many shots might cause a sort of immune system fatigue, compromising the body's ability to fight the virus...' Prof. Hagai Levine, an epidemiologist and chairman of the Israel Association of Public Health Physicians said ... there was no evidence that a fourth shot was needed to prevent severe illness from Omicron."

" 'Just because we lead with the third dose does not mean that there should be a fourth dose with no scientific basis.' - Prof. Dror Mevorach who heads the coronavirus ward at the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, also urged waiting for more data."

Others have given a different side to this. But yeah, after my 3rd dose I hope to sit on the sidelines for as long as possible before committing to more boosts. I guess that'll change if some new more dangerous variant surfaces. Sigh, who knows.

So when can we expect updated/adjusted boosters made for these variants? I was reading how the current boosters infection protection wane after 10-12 weeks. I remember reading that it's suppose to be close to March? But I can't find much info.

According to Italian news Pfizer said today that an Omicron+ (also against other current variants) booster is in production and will be available in March.

edit: just saw it was brought up in another thread: Vaccine and Vaccination Thread (Marcus Allen Edition - XVIII)

I posted this in another thread:

Just watched an interview with Bourla (Pfizer's CEO) on Squwak Box.

Pfizer CEO Bourla: Omicron-specific Covid vaccine will be ready by March (cnbc.com)

It is quite interesting. They will be manufacturing an omicron specific booster which will be ready if needed in March. He was less sure that 4th shoots would be necessary than Bancel, but suggested the goal would be to regain high efficacy vs infection. They have also signed an agreement with a company that would allow them to cut the time needed to retool the virus from 3 months to 2 to address future variants should they arrive.

Bourla also reiterated that the issue with vaccinating the world is not supply but a combination of delivery infrastructure and higher vaccine hesitancy in some of the poorer countries around the world.

Bancel was on earlier:

Moderna CEO Bancel: Future Covid vaccine booster will likely target omicron variant (cnbc.com)

He was happy with the efficacy of the booster. They will have an omicron specific vaccine in clinical trials very soon but like Bourla he said they are talking to people around the world about a multi-valiant booster for the fall of 2022.

For anyone interested in the most up to date info on vaccines and treatments I highly recommend Squawk Box and Squawk on the Street. They have Gottlieb on about 3 or four times a week as well as the CEO's of the major players whenever something significant is up.

Getting my booster shot tomorrow at 09.00 on a saturday morning. (why oh why did I choose that particular time slot.....)
Just got myself a pair of brand new cross-country skiis that I feel tempted at trying out on saturday, but my brain is telling me it is a bad idea, considering I had the sore arm after jab #1 and #2.
Has anyone exercized shortly after getting a jab? And what did it do to you?

I was able to play tennis after jab #1 with no issues, but I didn't have any side effects from that jab. With the other two I probably would have regretted it since I did get really fatigued, especially with #2.

Thank you. I went skiing.
This is my experience on 3rd jab. I got Moderna. The 1st and 2nd jabs I got was Pfizer.
16 hours after my 3rd jab I woke up 02.00 at night, shivering from being cold. Not a super-cold, but slightly cold. So, a fever but I never checked my temperature. Took a standard/generic "pain killer" we have here in Sweden (dont know how to translate pill name) went back to sleep. 7 hours later I woke up, without a cold and still not feeling the arm soreness.
Great, I can go cross-country skiing.
27hours after my 3rd jab, I went out cross-country skiing for 16km. It did not take long until severe arm soreness, but I battled through. It was quite annoying to ski with the arm soreness, and I probably wouldnt recommend to go cross-country skiing within 48h of the jab. I obviously could do it, but it was not as pleasant as you want it to be.
35hours after my 3rd jab, after resting in the sofa a couple of hours after skiing, the arm soreness was completely gone. Surprised it just disappeared so quickly.

Conclusion: quite heavy physical stressing of my vaxx arm definately increased the arm soreness a lot.
