I’d ask you the same question if you really believe he was their best player. Because he was not. Not even close. He mishandled pucks left and right

Well, Lemmy has heart and tried pretty hard. In this game, I'll give him a star just for that. He's poorly coached and has very specific and limited skills.

With Seattle looking to hire and quite a few possible coaching changes, VAN, NSH, MTL, and whoever else is under performing, we should really use the big ny bucks to get a new coach in here and have the selection first. We were chasing last time and fell short because we were a rebuilding team no one wanted to coach but now it's different. I hope we don't sit around until July to make that decision when the coaches are all gone.

Most likely they just promote Martin

In the past, David Quinn got blasted for shortening his bench and riding Panarin and Zibby too much. Now he's rolling 4 lines pretty much no matter what.

In this game, if I could fault him for anything... he didn't identify his most effective forwards and ride them. By middle of the 2nd period, it was becoming clear that Laf and Blackwell where the two guys who drove the most offense. They should have been out there every third shift. But they weren't. Of course, with 0 of 4 centers playing well it certainly didn't help.

Very nice of the refs to let Bergeron do whatever the hell he wants. Not only that comical sequence of cross checks late in the game, but he commits an insane amount of penalties all game. Every time someone is skating by him into the Bruins zone trying to forecheck he very clearly interferes with them. Every single time. Constant interference. Every shift is filled with holds, hooks, slashes.

We talk all the time about players like Wilson and Lemieux getting reputation calls against them but Bergeron is the opposite. No matter what he does he doesn’t get called bc of his reputation. Great player but that makes him immune from getting penalties called on him?

Ya, clearly there's very little tolerance for that kind of stuff here. Lemieux is a mouse here, Tony got sent to Jupiter, no one on the team has any fire. Somehow we ended last year saying we need to be more difficult to play against but so far all i'm seeing is laying down and dying.

Yeah, and what did we do? Went out and traded for Gauthier who is really soft.

We are supposed to have a development coach. Is it good to develop kids in the NHL giving them zero support? Knowing that nobody ever will have your back? Knowing that god forbid they landed a big hit, they would get run for 60 minutes by bigger more physical players — without anyone ever standing up for them?

Oki.

Everyone has

Mika isn't close. He isn't getting close. He's getting worse. And its time for management to have a sit down with those who make real decisions. I don't claim to have an answer or even have a thought on whether to scratch him at this point. Trading him makes little sense. New linemates does.

But for the first time, I'm strongly considering scratching probably the last Ranger I thought would ever get clipped like that.

20 games in and he has what, 6 pts?
With first line minutes at 5 on 5 and PP?

Hes killing this team.

All this is just part of today's suck. The whole team did a slide by.

Wanna beat the Rangers? Just jam the net and whack away.

High end skill not necessary.

Enjoy the day all.

They won't do anything with Zib till Breadman comes back...

Essentially. Quinn’s brand of hockey seems to be all about “good intentions” in every thing. The NY Choir Boys. Don’t carry the puck, that’s risky, dump it deep and chase. But don’t hit them too hard because that’s not nice. And also don’t fully commit to winning the battle for possession because if you don’t, you might get caught deep. So dump it and chase it but don’t chase it too hard because you don’t want to get caught forechecking too hard and have the puck go the other way. And when one of our guys gets run over, sit on, mugged in the corner... just turn the other cheek. Good intentions. We’re above that. We won’t be bullied, nor will we be goaded into a response. You play it safe and with good intentions, or you don’t play at all, got it?

Tony ruined his own career. He got an ultimatum from Gorts and JD talked to him.

Imagine a selfish immature asshole couldn't keep his nose clean for a week? Yah totally Quinn's fault.

That’s the way Boston has been playing for years. “The refs can’t call them all”...shameful that the league lets this go on. Could you imagine if the NFL selectively called penalties to this degree.

ya but at least so they can start the search. This management is god awful at doing their homework for hirings. They hired Ruff because Arniel recommended him even though Ruff isn't a D coach. Then they hired an under qualified Boston Buddy because he could tell you the difference between Iggy Azalea and Gwen Stefani. Then we hired Martin on Quinn's suggestion as well. That one is a win but boy, Gorton needs to do his homework properly.

And this is a team full of problems but honestly none are bigger than Zibanejad. What team would be able to do anything with their 1C literally performing at a 4th line level?

I mean, the funny thing is Mika doesn’t make more than Neal, Lucic, Eriksson, Okposo, Skinner or a handful of other truly terrible contracts but we have so much dead money on the books that we’re right up against the cap and one guy on a sub 6M contract sucking is burying us.

Like Skinner and Okposo combined make 15M per season and each has ONE point this season. Mika makes like 5.75M and is absolutely sinking us.

Blackwell establishing himself as a legit top 6 threat. Could be a huge luxury once we actually have a complete team for a change.

Well, my point was that if Quinn is fired: there would be no search. It would go right to Jaques. Unless, of course, he doesn't want the job.

Randy Jones deserves an apology from me.

Didn't watch the whole game but it's clear we need our talent back. Can't keep relying on 4th liners to play on lines 2-4 and score. We need Panarin, Chytil, Kakko, Trouba and we need Mika to be old Mika. Only thing I blame Quinn for is PP.

Once in a while our depth guys have been great but we're kidding ourselves if we expect that every game.

Yet the board would've complained why is Blackwell out there so damn much.
