I think they will be better as well as they continue to develop. It would obviously make more sense to ease them into full time roles in sheltered roles on the 3rd pairing.
Sandin is slow/small and weak.
Don’t get the love for him.
Lily is a blank sheet , doubt he is an NHL guy.
Which means Dubas probably loves them both.
Dermott has stalled badly.
Holl is bad.
We have 3 good D and we could use 2 more Bogo types.

After the kind of run Montreal had with their emphasis on big knuckle dragging D, you know there's going to be a premium on that player type.
Knuckle Dragging?
You think they are stupid?
There has ALWAYS been a need for tough players at all position.
I will take a knuckle dragger over a scared skill guy every time.
Just see what wins when it counts.
T.B. has a bunch of knuckle draggers by your definition ( big/tough/mean/dirtyetc… ) and they seem to be doing alright ; whereas our fancy dan approach has been awful.

I like to think of myself as a skill/grit centrist, but I'm never going to respect a guy like Ben Chiarot for mauling our guys like he has rabies, that's not a brand of hockey I want to see rewarded with any kind of success. Although to your point they are quite valuable and Toronto is going to get priced out of that market from the look of things.

Surprised some people are bashing Gudbranson. The same people were probably bashing Bogosian before he arrived here. Gudbranson is exactly what we can use on the third pair in a limited role and the second PK unit similar to what Bogosian was in.
Agree 100%

So more physical than bogo.
Be serious.
Also in the A.
Be serious.

Where do you expect prospects to play? He is also likely a better hitter, just cause Bogo used to fight doesn't make him more physical.
Try watching Liljegren, you'll be surprised.
Bogo may be chippier, but I honestly think Liljegren is more physical, and a stronger player, he is surprisingly built.

Martin Marincin, we just need another MM on the team. Just like the old saying, if one is not enough, make it TWO.

Dude. Get the f out of here with the this is the problem with Leafs fans rhetoric. If you want to argue the point of the post, do that. Leave that other shit out. There is nothing wrong with Leafs fans. Any of them.

good rebuttle ... look in the mirror, at least my post actually added to the conversation ,, your is doing what exactly ? oh yeah ... right ......

I still have no idea why they are crying about losing bogosian, the least used dman in the most sheltered minutes for a dman ive ever seen on this team.

there a reason he signed for 850k a year ... hes OVERATED !!!
dont you think if ANY TEAM (not just the leafs) found him that useful they would have easily paid 1.5 mil+ , goddamn ceci got 3.5

You kind of get the feeling that with Bogosian leaving and Perry joining the Lightning that Toronto has lost a lot of its luster as the destination you go to chase a championship on a cheap deal.
Still got Spezza. Although he may have other reasons for picking the Leafs. I don't believe there is a better dirt cheap old guy in the league than Spezza though. He looks and plays 10 years younger than what his actual age is. He outplayed $11 million Tavares on the season.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jason Spezza becomes our GM down the road, a la Joe Sakic, Steve Yzerman. Granted he was never a Leaf for his prime and you wouldn't characterize him as a star Leaf but seems to be building up that track record and reputation with the fanbase and market, and in the meantime is still plenty productive and you're right, there are times when you don't know which one of 19 or 91 is the old guy.

It's true.

I've always felt kinda bad because my son played at a higher level of hockey than his shot or skating ability would predict.

I asked the coach year after year, why did you pick him ?

Almost the same answer every year.

Hardest worker on the ice. Excellent PK. very smart with the puck. Least selfish player - always makes the right pass and his team mates love him. Perfect shut down guy. Very coach able. Never complains about the role he's given.

We lack those type of role players because they were not valued as highly as a guy who had previously shown flashes of skill. I think people will be shocked at how little we will miss Hyman after all. I liked Hyman a lot, but at the same time...he wasn't the only player in the league who won board battles...it was just that he was the only on on this team (besides AM) that did it consistently.

We need some guys who are willing to play that role and embrace it. I think Bunting and Kampf will be those players.
