If you were a victim of trafficking you would be grateful to be out of your situation and with the authorities and EMS... this woman was combative the entire time, also said something along the lines of "I should've never came here, he's a bad guy," not the typical relief or thankfulness or someone just rescued from trafficking.
I think she got enticed to hang out with a guy because he's rich and famous then clearly regretted it after a bender and realizing he's a douche. It's like those Instagram models who getting hit on by rich guys offering them free vacations.
Nichushkin definitely got some explaining to do to his wife though.
That is...not at all how human trafficking often works. The levels of manipulation and control are often deliberately aimed at distancing the victim from those first responders and people who could actually intervene. Creating a fear of those situations and interactions. Separating those people from any family/friends/etc. who could raise alarm bells. Using power and influence to instill a fear of other authorities in various ways.
It could well be that this woman has a substance abuse problem, maybe overstayed a visa or whatever else. But that is exactly the sort of person who is vulnerable to human trafficking and getting trapped in these sorts of exploitative situations. Those sort of issues are leveraged to coerce people into those types of situations. When they
do have those other worries about visa/passport/immigration status...they're conditioned to be fearful of the authorities and distanced from the people who could help and make things unpleasant for the people doing the exploitation.
Even in Canada...when it comes to human trafficking, there's a pretty significant problem with Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. They've got a better claim to be in this land than pretty much anyone...but it doesn't stop them from being distanced from their communities and exploited.
Ultimately...it doesn't matter what this woman's visa status, substance abuse problems, or anything else is. That's not an excuse for exploitation. And whatever the case with her jumbled story...it's clear that she is in distress.
The biggest thing is...whatever is going on here, it is clearly not something that you want your multimillion dollar sports player employee involved with. Not to imply that Nichushkin is directly involved in anything...but it's clearly not a situation that you want your players anywhere in the vicinity of. Just...don't be involved and associated with extremely intoxicated women with questionable identity/visa status while also intoxicated yourself, on a gameday afternoon. To the point that law enforcement and emergency services are being called. If you can manage that, you're probably golden. It's not an extremely tall bar to hurdle.
I'm mostly just really not impressed with the antagonistic way these officers and EMS workers approached the situation. Yelling at someone in distress with a clear and present language barrier, to stop repeating themselves is just...the least helpful thing in the world.
Like...imagine you're in Russia or Ukraine or Turkey or in think it's Czechia where that Hostel movie happened, or honestly whatever, and you're drunk off your ass and maybe even high on something else. Are you not gonna be freaking out when the Cops there show up and start shouting at you to identify yourself and all this other information and telling you to stop repeating yourself even though those are probably some of the only words you actually know in Russian/Ukrainian/Czech/Whatever place you've ended up? Just like...real garbage tier police work tbh. Especially in a situation where this person may already have been conditioned to fear authorities. Instead of being open and compassionate to try to figure out what's going on...they basically just shout at her to stop saying the same thing. Pathetic tbh.
