I can only assume the woman, at that point, is talking about either the team doctor or a first responder (who else is putting her in the ambulance?). Kinda seems like Nuke and his acquaintance were both partying much harder than they should've been.
I find it very hard to believe that the team doctor or the first responder would take her passport.

It would appear that someone has though, and I suspect not at all for nice reasons.

Seedy stuff and not your typical pre-game nap and a meal.

That video is a nothing burger. Just a bunch of context-less discussion for internet warriors to write fan fic about.

Entirely reasonably that they might grab her ID to see who she is, especially considering she’s obviously very intoxicated.

There’s also the possibility that she’s either lying or mistaken (eg can’t find it because she’s loaded).

There are many many many more people who overstay expired visas in this country than there are victims of human trafficking. I don’t know why everyone wants this to be some major scandal when it’s probably just a young rich athlete and some woman who was enticed to hang out with a young rich athlete overdoing it on the party favors.

oh ya they definitely sent Val home then right to rehab. Partying all night.

If you were a victim of trafficking you would be grateful to be out of your situation and with the authorities and EMS... this woman was combative the entire time, also said something along the lines of "I should've never came here, he's a bad guy," not the typical relief or thankfulness or someone just rescued from trafficking.

I think she got enticed to hang out with a guy because he's rich and famous then clearly regretted it after a bender and realizing he's a douche. It's like those Instagram models who getting hit on by rich guys offering them free vacations.

Nichushkin definitely got some explaining to do to his wife though.
I can assure you this is not the case in many countries that people are trafficked from the authorities work hand and hand with the traffickers and/or street level peddlers. The traffickers also use threats of harm toward loved ones or cutting off support in some way to loved ones or both if they leave or try to run. So no I can assure you victims of trafficking are not always happy to deal with authorities.

I remember in like 2017 a Russian overstayer in Thailand tried to avoid arrest by saying she was an escort on a yacht with Trump and some Russian oligarchs and that she had info. It was a lie to buy some time, but boy did it sound juicy.

Point is, people in distress often say things in exasperation are untruthful, so much so that we shouldn't be drawing any conclusions based on incomplete information. You never know who might run with misinformation
I remember that one

The last few seconds of the video strongly suggest that he was doing more than just "hanging out", and also strongly suggest that information is being deliberately witheld because he's a public athlete.

edit: it's in the last few seconds of the news report, but at 7:00 of the raw video

The thing that makes me go "hmm" is why would he miss multiple games in a do or die series where the Avs needed him badly, including a game 7 if this whole thing was nothing?

He's certainly not the first NHL player to go hook up with a side chick/mistress or even a hooker, I'm sure that happens all the time.

There is probably some shady aspect to the whole thing (the passport and at all that) and the Avs got shit scared about potential charges happening but the police didn't investigate it too much because of the guy being a pro athlete with another police officer with him (undercover) so they kinda gave it a pass. And the woman possibly not being cooperative.

That's the way the pendulum has swung. It's pegged on the "react as if the worst case scenario is true and adjust as necessary"

It had to be something, it's not like he missed some regular season game, they held him out of a game 7 elimination game in the playoffs, that is pretty bizarre.

Flying the guy out of Seattle immediately is bizarre too, like it seems like they were worried he would get arrested.

can anyone with HIPAA or legal knowledge explain why only Nichushkin's information is being protected here? does the woman not have the same right to privacy and protected health information they are providing for him by redacting the audio? they openly discuss her name, try to get her address, phone number, denote she's intoxicated and has potential other substances onboard, etc. does it only need to be protected if she gave better answers or they were more specific? feels like this law is being applied unfairly here and only to Nichushkin.

in the end, this video makes this look far less like a "good samaritan" move from the team and far more like a "ditch her on the system while we duck out" move.

I bet on the criminal side of things, with the girl, it is nothing.

I bet the reason he left was because he was up all night doing drugs, and into the next day. Both parties, the Avalanche and VN realized he had a substance abuse problem. They then sent him directly to rehab. There is more to life than a playoff run

Most people don't say how fun it is to have sex with a drunk, probably sex trafficked woman who doesn't speak the language because its really f***ed up and a crime.

It would be like if you went into a Brad Aldrich thread and said how he had a lot of fun but now he's getting cancelled for it. That damn cancel culture with its punishing people for sex crimes.
Not the same at all - also plenty of courtesans who are not trafficked. relax.

You don’t think it was fun for him that night?

And where are we seeing sex trafficked woman? Jumping to conclusions here to fit the narrative. If we’re gonna jump to conclusions, I think based on the video it seems likely that she has no citizenship/legal documents to stay in the US, wanted to make some quick cash, got too intoxicated and when approached by police/ambulance started shifting blame on someone else for stealing her ID when asked knowing well that she will be facing deportation once the truth comes out.

But if you want to put the S on your chest and cape on your back go ahead.

It really doesn't. There are several more plausible explanations for that than "Nuke is human trafficking!!!", ranging from completely innocuous to she was lying to cover her own butt because she's not in the U.S. legally. Any of those explanations are magnitudes more likely than the rage-baity stuff everyone is jumping to. Nichushkin's own medical/mental health information being redacted is a nothing burger -- all it implies is that he, too, was partying hard.

I'm sure Brad Aldrich had a lot of fun too. You can white knight for nichushkin all you want with the fan fiction you're writing there though.

If you're starting with this, I can already tell you have 0 idea what you're talking about with regard to victims of the kind of thing being discussed.

You think this woman was in Nuke's room getting absolutely obliterated by herself? Or do you think maybe they were both partaking? My money is on Nuke leaving to get treatment for substance abuse (probably at the request of the team).
