I wrote a tome, it was a hockey book
I made a post, to make them have a look
They started googling
They found a video
An interview from the TV
And that's about the time the lies caught up with me...

I could go on
And that's the time HF they all slandered me
Nobody likes you when you're forty-three
And you still act like you're ok Boomer guy
Who believes Sandy Hook lies
Mods say I should state my age
What's my age again?

I credit our new format.

Amazing. Don't forget the introduction of cubicle guy. Or has everyone forgotten that one by now?
That one I don't recall. The usual contenders for funniest HFBoards threads (aside from Turkey Girl - and now this one) are:
And a few older ones I can't find links for (with more than 30 seconds of effort):
  • Someone once argued that Martin Skoula was better than Nicklas Lidstrom due to the vague, ephemeral skill known as "puck poise"
  • Around 2005 or 2006, somebody argued that Petr Prucha was better than Sidney Crosby
  • There was a thread about greatest "goatlenders"
  • Not sure if this was created on HFBoards but around 15 years ago there was a map of the NHL rink with funny annotation. It showed the face-off circle as "where Yanic Perreault plays his best hockey" and the bench as "where Yanic Perreault plays his 2nd best hockey"!

Was there one where someone was perturbed that NHL player Derek Morris had a buzz cut, or is that my imagination?

Derek Morris’ Haircut was a classic. John Tavares Ethnicity was another.

I completely forgot about cubicle guy though.

I cannot believe this thread went this direction.

I'm certain that it's been lost to the ether, but Bob McKenzie calling somebody an asshat was also an all time great moment.

In this time of remembrance, I'm called to sing the song of my people (any time I've claimed to be anything but a Newfoundlander, that was a prank).

The month that Bob Hull Sr. died was a thread I'll never forget
Some of the b'ys got riled up and they haven't calmed down yet
As long as the slander was thrown around every man was getting mad
Then Big Phil came with a bombshell, and claimed to be his dad!

That's how we show our respect for Bob Hull Sr.
That's how we take our social justice side
We said he was a complex man and dunked on one poor poster
Every post in the thread was gold the month that Bob Hull died!

There was also the one with a dude bragging about his girlfriend and it turns out the photo he used was one taken from some young woman's dating profile that he clearly lifted because, yes, she was attractive.

If I wasn't so tired, I'd do a version set to "Barrett's Privateers" which somehow seems apt.

An author you initially pretended to not "know much about" until people became suspicious and then he suddenly turned into a "family friend" of yours.

He is someone we have known for a very, very long time. I was trying to help promote his book. We didn't do that good of a job of it, the mods had some sort of policy or whatever it was. I obviously didn't want to make it obvious we were pushing his book so I wasn't going to say I knew him. We were trying to make it natural. I spoke to at least one mod about this back then who didn't like a new account being made specifically for promoting a book. So we never did it after that. If you need to know badly enough.................and I can see people do...........I am sure I can find the conversation (it is a PM) with the mod. It is sort of funny to me in a way.

So the strategy is to triple down, eh?

So this author that you named, Phil Schlenker, who's definitely 42, you're sure you're not him, eh?
Well that's him. Feeling stupid yet 70s?. You've got a bizarre fetish with me for some reason. It's weird. You really think I would have spent 14 years since 2009 saying absolutely NOTHING to anyone on a history of hockey board that I wrote a hockey debate book? You honestly think that would never come up? Or do you think the more likely scenario that I tried to help a friend get some notoriety for it when it first came out? I've read that book many times, there is absolutely no shame in writing that book, I've applied some arguments on here before. So if that were me why not say it?
