"Okay sure, so I lied about my age a few pages back. And I lied about not knowing the author of the book I was trying to promote. And I also pretended to not know that the OP of that thread was my own son.

But now I promise that I'm telling the truth about not being the same Phil - who coincidentally shares the same first name, and from his interview also appears to be a 'Big Phil'."

Surely you can see how it's kind of tough to take your word for it right?

Besides, I can totally understand why somebody would create and alt and post the book that way, to avoid doxxing themselves. It was 14 years ago anyways, so I don't see why it would be a big deal anyways to just say: "yeah, I guess I shouldn't have done that" and move on.

I'm kind of tempted to buy the book now.

Bookfinder searches grab all results from the most common places to buy books new and used. It also spits out results based on total price including shipping to your country, in your currency. It does not filter out duplicates cross-posted, though.

This one can be found fairly easily, but not cheaply. If you go and buy the first result (~CAD$32, then results 1, 2, 3, and 5 disappear. Then it's not available for any less than CAD$37.

Well that's him. Feeling stupid yet 70s?. You've got a bizarre fetish with me for some reason. It's weird. You really think I would have spent 14 years since 2009 saying absolutely NOTHING to anyone on a history of hockey board that I wrote a hockey debate book? You honestly think that would never come up? Or do you think the more likely scenario that I tried to help a friend get some notoriety for it when it first came out? I've read that book many times, there is absolutely no shame in writing that book, I've applied some arguments on here before. So if that were me why not say it?

Yes, that's exactly what happened - you wrote a book, and like anyone, you'd love to announce it and take credit for what is, by most accounts, a good book. But you can't, because then all of us would say, "wait, THAT'S Big Phil? This guy who's like, 30? But hasn't he been saying stuff like he remembers Leo Boivin and saw Phil Esposito's whole career?

But you still couldn't help yourself and had to try to promote it - under the name of a new user, "Hockey Authority", but you were busted for posting with multiple accounts from one IP. There was nothing wrong with announcing you wrote a book or promoting it, like you implied earlier. Authors do that in this section all the time. Some even create accounts here just for that purpose, and that's ok. The only problem was the shady way you were doing it.

It's not about what's more likely - it's about what's true. And there's no shame in writing the book, whatsoever - unless it's bad I guess - but all I've ever heard is that it's good.

So here's what's gonna happen. You have to admit that you're 42 and that you wrote the book. And you've been misrepresenting yourself as a boomer for nearly 20 years. Take the L on that one. There's no way out of that. Then take the W. You wrote a hockey book before you were even 30.... and it's good!

Heads up for the crew here; we'll be shutting this one down at some point tomorrow - I'd like to give Phil the final word (to the extent that I can get to the thread quickly enough after he avails himself of the opportunity).

Happy Friday to those who celebrate.
Can we add this thread to the quantum of Bobby Hull’s legacy?

Well. So long and farewell, to a HF Hall of Fame thread. Philip, can I call you Philip? Or is that your father's name? No matter.

It really does take something to unite HF like this is. In utter disdain for someone who has been a barnacle on the hull of hockey discourse for two decades. Those of us with long enough memories remember your contributions, such as they were, to other boards here, spouting off nonsense and irredeemable conspiracy theories and have enjoyed the last 24 hours here more than you can know.

Best wishes for your next cameo on cable access television.

He is someone we have known for a very, very long time. I was trying to help promote his book. We didn't do that good of a job of it, the mods had some sort of policy or whatever it was. I obviously didn't want to make it obvious we were pushing his book so I wasn't going to say I knew him. We were trying to make it natural. I spoke to at least one mod about this back then who didn't like a new account being made specifically for promoting a book. So we never did it after that. If you need to know badly enough.................and I can see people do...........I am sure I can find the conversation (it is a PM) with the mod. It is sort of funny to me in a way.

Several years ago an exchange prompted me to take a quick look at your... oops, I mean: his Facebook account. Here's roughly how it looked like:

June 10. Phil Schlenker posts on Facebook: "Incredible how the liberals and the media are ruining everything that is great about America. Heck, if John F. Kennedy was alive today he'd be a Republican."
June 11. Big Phil posts on the (now defunct) HF Politics forum: "Unbelievable, the ways that Democrats and their friends in the mainstream media go to destroy our culture. Honestly, a patriot like JFK would be cancelled by them today."
June 12. Big Phil posts on the HF Politics forum: "Heck, if you don't believe me that the deep state is working against the people and for the NWO, just look at the way they covered up the truth about 9/11."
June 13. Phil Schlenker posts on Facebook: "To be honest, even if a real patriot was voted president today we'd might never learn the truth about things like September 11. Elections hardly matter anymore, the real powers that be are working behind the surface to bring about the new world order."

The next time you see your friend Phil (who, BTW, looks pretty big in that video – no offence), tell him how lucky you are to have found a friend who is so completely like you that other people can hardly tell you guys apart.

Damn, isn't he even Canadian? Or is this "Yankee Phil" one of his, er, roles?

Quite frankly, I don't even remember if he's ever claimed to be Canadian (or American per se in those FB/HF posts), but I thought it was given.

I think he never made a secret of the fact that he's Canadian, but he's quite invested in what happens south of the border.
