This draft is possibly the best ever. No, this draft is THE best ever. When you got 49 better players than a guy who scored in his last 3 international tournaments almost 3 points per game (and also 39 shutouts in the last season combined!)..wow, that is one hell of a draft...
But seriously, what if a Canadian player scored those 19 points in U-18 WC.. Where he would be in the rankings?
His size and perimeter playing style keep him that far down. If he was Canadian, scouts would have seen him play North American style games, and could see if his skills would translate.
The knock on him is he plays on the outside and isnt willing to get his nose dirty, and until that is seen in Major Juinor or minor pro the jury will still be out.
Patrick Kane went first his draft year and is slight, but he proved himself in a league that continually puts out top talent. He dominated.
Rajala racked up a lot of points against lesser competion at the U-18, he did well against Canada, but you have to take a lot of those stats with a grain of salt.
NOthing against Finland, but their track record hasnt been too good over the last few years, and there are better players who look like they can play a NA style game over Rajala.
Tavares to Dale Hawerchuk is new to me.
New, but isnt it good.
Thats why I like Bob Mackenzie so much. Tavares can score like Bossy, but isnt similar.
Thinking back, the Hawerchuck comparison is probably the best I have seen.
I also like the Ellis comparisson.
yep his skating is really good but he's CLEARLY not the next Jay-BO
While I dont think Depres will ever amass more than 40 points, J-Bo is a consistent 40 point getter. He is good, but he is still a step below the great defensman in the league, offensively anyway.
the depres comparison comes down to size - they are almost the same size right now, I think Depres might bulk up a bit more by the time he makes the NHL, but his skating is very good for a bigger player.
theres no freaking way kyle clifford is going at 55. try 155
Same was said of a Vancouver Giant who was taken 50th in 2006 after a 19 point season - Milan Lucic.
Clifford isnt high on my list as I havent watched much of him, but I dont think its out of the realm of possibility that a team covets a player like him in the late 2nd or early 3rd.
