Bob mckenzie (tsn) draft ranking)

LOL @ HFboards darling MPS not being able to put the puck in the net. Even bigger LOL next year after Tavares wins the Calder after sooo many morons on this board said he will bust.

If everybody who HFBoards labelled a bust would actually bust then no 1st rounder would ever play an NHL game.

Conversely, if every guy lived up to their HFBoards superstar hype they'd have to give out 30 Hart Trophies.

I for one am excited to watch the Mock Draft with Pierre Mcguire tomorrow. That man is going to bust a nut over every prospect he likes. Should be one awesome 30 minutes. His quote " he just gets it" is going to be flying around for the 30 minutes. I'm just to jazzed up for tomorrow and friday.

i watch a ton of ohl, and ive seen him a fair amount too. i cant for the life of me realize what hes shown to be a second round pick. not really a power forward, not a huge guy, doesnt score (under .5 ppg..) ..

i think mps will be a bust

Firstly, I've learned the hard way not to trust professional scouts and I'd much rather trust someone who has seen a player play a lot. If you think the guy you've seen is closer to 155 than 55 then you're probably right.

Imho regarding a few things mentioned.

Kane is indeed 6'1 now, and his height listing is a year old. I didn't like the "Iginla" comparison either. It's inaccurate because Kane has much better lateral ability while nobody can know whether he'll end up as strong on his skates and as physically strong as Iginla.

MPS has dropped like a stone on most people's list and won't go higher than 8th unless Lombardi takes him which is doubtful because that pick is probably going to be traded. MPS has "issues" going to the net according to the Hockey News. Don't listen to what they said about him on TSN - the kid has some courage issues.

It remains to be seen whether this draft is better than 2003 which is the best draft since 1979. David Poile has said on the record that this year's first round isn't as good as last year's although the top three rounds are the deepest he's seen.

Can you tell me my horoscope?

Yeah sure. You will find some one to spend the rest of your life with very soon. Also a hobby of yours which you have put many hours into... (the color blue comes to mind) will cause you nothing but pain and sorrow for the rest of your days.

You better hope so since your team is picking number 1

I am hoping my team selects Victor Hedman who i feel has the highest upside of this draft. But i would also be very happy with John Tavares who is a top flight sniper who will win the calder in TB, NY, TOR or any other damn team in this league.

I like how they have 10 or so players above Orlov whose faults they dissect right there, and then they get to Orlov in the middle of the 2nd round and have nothing bad to say about him.

Methinks this is Grachev part II.

Agreed... Id say he is completely fearless. How Strange!

There seems to be some kind of a strange Larsson fetish going around and some weird Josefsson/MSP backlash.

I'm guessing it's because Josefsson and MSP still haven't fully grown into a specific role as much as other high end prospects. Playmaker, sniper, two way forward? I don't see that as an issue. Both were pretty damn impressive.

... closer to Zetterberg, Lecavalier, Thornton than the abovementioned.

In my opinion, he's 2, the others are 1a, 1b, and 1c. Datsyuk's all-around domination puts him up there. Most complete player, and if you choose not to believe that, definitely at least top 3.

He's still not scoring at an elite level. He's scoring consistently, but not at all elite.

Crosby, Malkin, and Ovechkin are elite, then there's everyone else.

Datsyuk....

scoring at an elite level. Not playing at an elite level.

Datsyuk was 5 points behind Crosby despite playing four more games. 13 points behind Ovechkin while playing 2 more. In all three zones Datyuk is better much better than Ovechkin and Malkin and a little less bette than Crosby, but when it comes to putting points on the board those three are running away with it.

Hall of Fame hands with AHL skating ability.

A relatively weak skater can improve significantly with proper coaching. A lot of these kids have never had to work hard at their skating to dominate. That changes once they turn pro.

It's much more difficult to develop great hands in a player. They're a gift that you either have or don't.

Completely disagree. One of his biggest strength is his ability to skate past defenders and rush right to the net. I've seen about 4-5 Timra games and he did this on a regular basis.

And to all the people predicting him to "bust", what is this based on exactly? Lack of finish? Just for comparison's sake, Anze Kopitar scored 8 goals in the SEL (in his POST-draft season). 1 more goal than MPS in his PRE-draft season.

MPS has the explosiveness, speed, will to drive the net and on top of that tremendous playmaking abilities. I don't see how he can't at least be a 3rd liner at the NHL level. He could also become an elite 1st line talent. Can't really go wrong.

Why is everyone thinking MSP will bust all of a sudden? I saw a lot of SEL games this season, and there is no doubt in my mind that he will be at least a very good 2nd liner in the NHL. Most likely better than that, but this bust talk is nonsense, IMO.. He did great with the little ice-time he got.. I see no reason to think he has a bigger chance of busting than guys like Duchene, Kane, Schenn and Kadri.. And I'm saying this without any bias.. My team has no chance of getting either of these guys and I'm not from a country where good hockey players come from.

Both of your commentary on MPS makes me feel a hell of a lot better if the Oil lands him at #10.
